Yeah, I play the PC version. Saw the game of the year edition at Wal Mart for under $20 so I grabbed it. That really sucks, but the ending's not that great, Dagoth Ur was a real pushover. Kind of disapointing really, you'd think a god should be really hard to kill, I had a harder time with Cliff Racers. XD
I've heard that before too. I just wished that I would have finished it just to say that I had done so. My friend beat the game and all of the quests a long time ago and he still plays it. He just glitches his stats up way high and runs around. Some of the things that he does are hilarious to watch. He only uses the game to make people laugh now.
I don't get all the hate KH gets. Sure is IS a button masher, but nobody ever complained about games like Secret of Mana and it's sequels being button mashers. And seriously, there is no series that is more of a button masher than Seiken Densetsu. :P
Looking forward to another Kingdom Hearts myself.
Apparently KH2:Final Mix has been announced for the US. Should be pretty cool. It's got a 3-D remake of Chain of Memories as a bonus, so I might actually get around to playing that game this time around.
I could not disagree with this statement more. Not because I'm a particularly big fan of the series, but because there's simply no way that you can call Kingdom Hearts 'average'. I have trouble coming up with examples of RPG series that are less average; even with a completely standard turn based battle system and generic, lifeless character designs, it would still stand out from the crowd on its Disney / Square gimmick and its rather unique setting and storyline.
I'd accept, and even agree with, 'flawed'. I don't really like the series myself, and it's certainly not without its shortcomings. However, 'average' implies pure cookie cutter material (Albert Odyssey Gaiden on the Saturn, for example) and Kingdom Hearts, for better or for worse, is a pretty unique and distinctive series.
On topic, I recently finished Suikoden III. I loathed the game the first time that I tried to play it, and cast it aside after no more than six or seven hours. However, Elmdor's shining recommendation of it convinced me to give it another go. And, after a little persistance in its opening segments, I found it really enjoyable. Not Suikoden II or Suikoden V good, but still well worth a go, and a thousand times better than the horror that was Suikoden IV. Thanks, Elmdor. ^_^
I've recently beat your mom. INTO THE GROUND.
I'm coming close to closing Armored Core: Last Raven. I have to destroy the guy I wanted to help win. =( I ended up on the wrong path.
Boohooo! I don't have time to play games at all this coming week :(.
Dreamfall: The Longest Journey. Great game, awesome story. Too bad it wasn't a point and click just as The Longest Journey was, it would've been a lot more awesome then. :(
Sid Meier's Pirates! (2004). I managed to kick all but 2 pirates ass, found all my relatives, found 2 treasures and killed the guy who wronged my family. Married the dutch daughter of the governor of Curacao, and then retired at 39 and become a surgeon.
The Godfather. It was surprisingly good, especially since it's a) based on a movie and b) it's a EA game.
I was maybe halfway through the game, with a killer char, and all this mad armor and weapons and expensive stuff that I stole from the vaults, and I was up to the part where you're meant to get some bow from a ghost, and, well, I killed the ghost, but didn't check it's corpse, and I must have been all through that cave about 20 times before I decided to consult a walkthrough, and it was then that I realised that the item I needed was unatainable, becaus eI didn't check the corpse, and it was lost forever.
Oh man you should have seen the rage I went into.
Elite Beat Agents.
Which is awesome.
That's awesome, man. ^.^
Now, there are a bunch of things in Suikoden III that initially annoyed the hell out of me, such as the reduced party size, the stupid 3D, the lack of Viktor and Flik and finally the retarded strategy fights. A certain wind rune user did, however, happen to be one of my favourite characters which made the whole game much more enjoyable, storywise. Did you get the best ending by the way? It's rather brilliant.. =3
Eh... let's not even mention Suikoden IV. =.=
Unfortunately no. =( I don't really like to use walkthroughs on my first time through games, so generally it takes me to my second playthrough to get the best ending in the Suikoden games, as I always end up missing at least one star. =P Which sort of sucks. Except in the case of Suikoden II, where I like the sad ending better anyway. ^_^
And yeah, III certainly wasn't perfect, but as I played on, I found more and more that I liked about it. By the end, I had had so much fun with it that, for all its flaws, I couldn't possibly say that I didn't like it.
...
Wind Rune, show me your power! :x
i beat god of war saturday i might do god mode but i still have to beat resiednt evil 4 and xenogears by the 29 when i go back to school
Armored Core: Nexus. This is the first Armored Core that I have ever actually played from beginning to end. I didn't go through looking for secret parts or anything because I had them all already, but it was damned fun. My supAr broke tank raped ALL ACs and my Lightweight Biped ran through 90% of the missions with ease. <3
Haha, yeah.. it's always one freaking star, isn't it? Although I did actually manage to get them all (in time!) when playing Suikoden III. :>
Oh? I like the war-room ending the best. :P Uh, nah.. but you're right, it gives you that wonderful Valkyrie Profileish-Tear Eyed-Booboohead feeling.
Hugo is Luca Blight's son, I kid you not! Who did you give the flame rune to, by the way?
"I hate you more than anything in the world. But you are the only one I empathize with."
Luc and Sasarai <3
Let's add Robotech Battlecry to my list of recently beaten games. I must say I'm curious how such a great anime such as Robotech can spawn such an awful game. The package brags about having anime with beautiful graphics, all it has are a few hand drawn slide shows with the character you're playing as talking. If they could fit real anime videos into Lunar SSS Complete and EB Complete back on the PSX they sure as hell should be able to fit it on a PS2 disc. There's little to nothing to unlock, just a small handfull of mechs, a few paint jobs, and some interviews, no real replay value, in fact I only got about 7 hours of play out of it, and that's after getting stuck on several missions, if I had beaten every mission in one go it probably would've only been about 4. The missions range from incredibly easy to impossibly hard and there are way too many escort missions. Say it with me now gaming industry, WE HATE ESCORT MISSIONS! Now the controls, transforming is a pain they could've done the logical thing and assigned it to the unused L3 or R3 no, they assigned it to the directional buttons so if you want to change you have to hold perfectly still and hope you don't get blown up in the process, and no matter what form you're in it's incredibly slow. I was hoping for a fast paced experience along the lines of Zone of the Enders, not watching a giant robotic snail. I'd be on my way to Game Zone right now to return it if it weren't just five dollars.
Woah. Wall'o text.
Finished Rayman Raving Rabbids (Wii) today.
Advance Wars 1 - didn't do the war room.
Seiken Densetsu 3 with the English patch. Nice stuff.
Elite Beat Agents.
Agents are,
GOOOO!!
Jowy... ;____; I didn't play another RPG for about five months after Suikoden II. That ending ruined me. In a good way.
Sorry, I didn't see this post 'til now. I gave the rune to Chris. I liked her and Hugo quite a bit, but I'd still kind of prefer for there to have been a single lead character. Somehow it didn't feel quite as Suikoden-ish without one. :]
And...Hugo, Blight's son? =o That's an um...interesting theory. :P
No worries, dude. :) Oh? I liked Geddoe (err.. is that his name? Oh well, the third guy anyway :P) the best, but I went with Hugo seeing as Chris and Geddy were tied to the other two runes. Yeah, I know what you mean. I.. I actually thought Thomas would turn out to be the main character which would've been.. eh, I was being silly there.
I know, but it's either him or Jowy. =3 Now, Lucia came to aid them highlanders after Luca had died, but I like to naturally assume that they had sex a few days before that. And Hugo's hair is suspiciously black-blonde..
Could also apply for Jowy though..Quote:

They're really well done. The level design is top notch, and the games play faithfully to what you'd expect in Megaman, with the Metriod game making allowances for Samus' floaty jumping. The bosses move and act like you'd expect them to act, complete with Arthur's inability to change direction once commited to a jump, and Samus dropping bombs all over the place. It's just really classy stuff. Really fun. The cool thing is that when you finish one game, you unlock a special weapon that you can use in the other. When you beat them both, you can play through them again with Protoman. I recommend that you check them out at Newgrounds.com. Use Joy2Key for best results.

So...uh, this is off-topic, but which Xenosaga would you think it's good to start? I have heard people who said that the PS1 are great and the PS2 crap and viceversa, I like any type of RPG's so what would anyone recommend? :)
Valkyrie Profile.
Suikoden I, II, III, IV (Only to meet Ted) and V.
Fire Emblem VI-IX.
Go.
the psx one is called xenogears
the ones on ps2 are called xenosaga and are 3 games total and i started on the first one
Sweet, thanks. :)
Yeah, uhm... You're supposed to play Episode I...
Then Episode II...
Then Episode III! :sa-bgrin:
Dunno if Xenogears is better played before or after, though...
I beat Silent Hill 2 yesterday -- 100 Star Rank. I'm not sure I wanna try Silent Hill 3 now... It's the hardest SH game I've played... :|
It doesn't matter if you play Xenogears before or after Xenosaga as the stories are hardly related to each other.
Admit it Ru, you are just afraid of the dark! :P
I'd recommend you play Xenogears first, personally. It's much better than Saga (though it's much better than most games, in my opinion :P), and while the two aren't really related in any direct way (despite having a very similar feel), Saga has lots of cool little references back to Gears. Especially Episode III. Even if you try Xenosaga and don't like it, I'd still recommend giving Gears a go, as it's really one of the best Japanese RPGs ever. ^_^
By all means play Saga as well, though. Episode I is really good, and while Episode II is a bit of a train-wreck in certain ways, it's not completely irredeemable. Besides, even if it was, it's worth playing simply because Episode III is so good. ^_^
They're not really for everyone. The three games are criticised for being linear and story heavy...and they are. A lot of game time is spent watching movies. But it's a pretty interesting story, with a nice cast of characters. I remember you said that you liked Final Fantasy X, and it's not really any more linear than that, so maybe, like me, the 'on-rails-ness' of Xenosaga won't bother you too much anyway. ^_^
