Do keep in mind the Megaupload founder was living in a huge fuck off mansion in New Zealand and had a garage full of expensive sports cars with custom license plates. This isn't exactly a teenage kid downloading Lil Wayne albums in his bedroom. They repeatedly ignored DMCA takedown notices, paid their more prolific uploaders actual money to share the latest film and music releases and as a company were making more profit in a single year than any of you will see in your lifetime, all off the back of filesharing. They're not as innocent as they first appear.
