Girlfriend found out I have a felony charge on my record. :lol Needless to say I'm hearing a lot of shit now. :lol
Might be, I don't really remember the whole details on the charges. :lol It might be a Misdemeanor. It was over a fight on Facebook and a buddy of mine commented something stupid about school shootings and how he was gonna do one. I got in trouble, he got off scotch-free. Whatever. :lol
The phrase is "scot-free" (or "scott-free").
Sounds like a misdemeanor.
Our justice systems are different but serious crimes are still serious.
Here it would be a summary offence I guess.
Here we have summary and indictable offences (hybrid too, but that is covered by the 2 I mentioned).
You can be found guilty in a court of law, and not have a conviction recorded against your name.
The offence stays on your record, but because you're not a convicted criminal it doesn't affected your life as much.
If you're a convicted criminal then you could be refused a passport and thus be unable to leave the country.
For Americans it would be based on a court case involving a black man.
But it existed in the English language before that.
After a quick google:

I could use some scotch free right about now.
And in other news, Gare has a theme song.
