There was a copyright violation scheme the government tried to organise (over the last 2 years or so I believe) with ISPs and interested parties.
It was going to cost like $25-30 per C&D letter so didn't happen because obviously not viable cost wise.
New Zealand has the same thing (ours was going to be based on theirs) and very few notices are issued.
Not as much push for it now that Netflix and such are available here, apparently these things have helped reduce piracy.
But at the end of the day, with our small population there isn't a massive amount of piracy. Even if 75% of the population pirates stuff (which I doubt would be the case) it isn't anywhere near the amount of piracy in other countries like the US, China, Brazil etc.
By interested parties I think it's mainly Village Roadshow. Them and Foxtel are pushing in court to have piracy websites blocked, which is all they can do now I think.
Not that it really matters as there's always a way to get around blocks like that.
Shit, before Netflix was officially available here Aussies were using it :lol
donald trump is s deluded hypocritical moron.
He wants to declare war on Germany and Japan again?
Doesn't if you financial interfere with other countries, thinking "nobody will mess with us because we're the US".
