It's not strictly DnD, the rules need to be modified heavily to make it work in real time. I like the setting, FR is wonderful.

didn't get very far into the first but the setting was pretty nice, I got as far as the first basement of the prison. I was using a fighter dual wielding kamas and had hired a cleric.

The Neverwinter Nights campaign is too much go get this, go kill that and get this. The expansions are better, as is the second game. Not to say the first game is horrible, just not as fun as it could be.

Yep, this one graduated with the Bachelor's degree last month. Now this one is searching for employment, and trying to start up a computer repair/shop place with this one's father.

With regular weapons (or even enchanted ones), it really helps to take the specialization proficiencies. Dual-wielding will give you penalties to hit.

yeah but single wielding is no fun, well it could have been worse I started the game with a club and crossbow using mage.
