What kind of emulator is right for me?
Using Windows XP with SP2, with hardware components state of the art as of now (FX-55, BFG Ultra 6800, 2GB RAM, etc...). I'd like an N64, Gamecube, PS2, and XBox emulator. As for games, I should be able to just put the games into my computer and play right off of them right?
How long have I been here? Would you believe I'm just NOW starting to do this emulation thing? That 1999 Compaq sent me a few years back, I guess.
OK well I actually can't make a new thread. I'd like to request a reseed for Monster Rancher Battle Card Episode 2 it was originally posted by TechKnow for Playstation and I would like to finish this file as I'm sitting on 98.9% and need an extra 800 Kb.
Only 74 MB so more people could download while we seed.

Just a tip, don't wait before requesting a reseed, things move fast here. If you wait a day without seeing anyone connect, ask for a reseed.
This one was posted on 3rd august. And TechKnow last activity was on 31 october.

one you didn't mention is Dreamcast that seems to be comming alone very well
A DC emu called Chankast runs very well and full speed with alot of games.
On a side not alot of the games for the DC are still being made in Japan and alot of the older DC games have been remade for X-Brick and GameCube, prolly PS2 aswell,
This one will also not run orginals, but it will run selfboots CD Images or CD-R's, there are some people that can run none boot games with a Utopia boot CD Image or CD-R aswell
A PC can't directly read a Dreamcast disc as they are not simple compact disc's but GD-Roms, but can be dumped to a PC through a method that isn't that diff from the method used to dump GameCube games, whats beter is that you can put the ripped data on a CD-R and play it either through the emu chankast or through a unmodded DC depending on th year it's made if you have a US DC, Euro ones never had protection like that though :P

N64 emulation while patchy in places is not too bad at the moment.
I personally would suggest to you project 64 and 1964
with project 64 there is a sp1 patch for it that does help with performance (never had the opprotunity to test it without so i can;t tell)
1964, two versions that may be of interest 0.8.5 and 0.9.9
these two tend to be the best.
Another problem that you may run into is plug-ins, sometimes you have to do a fair bit of fiddling with plug-ins, while not many games have problem with sound some do with graphics. I would recommend the following graphics plug-ins

Glide 64 v0.7 ME SP8 (newest version available, have to check myself sometime)
Glide 64 requires a thing called a glide wrapper for your graphics card in case its not a voodoo card.
Generally the case is that one of these three plug-ins tend to do the trick.

All that means is that the game is multi-language, and that it's Pal. There's no special burn method for these. As long as you can play Pal games, you're set.
Hey guys, i have a problem with the VGS emulator (for psx)...
I"m on Windows XP, and for some games such as Chrono Cross and Xenogears, the audio is somewhat screwed up: in CC, the background noise is missing (i.e when you move the stones waaay at the beginning of the game - there's is no splash - and at other times too), and in XG, whenever it's my turn in a battle, the game makes an awful 'pixelated' noise. It lasts for less than 2 seconds, but it comes up quite frequently, as battles normally take several turns to complete...
There also some other games with ~slight~ problems, but they are bearable...
So if anyone has any tips, please don't be shy! ; )
Could someone tell me how to set this up?? I don't know anything about BIOS or anything like that... I just want to play Lunar and Lunar 2... and I need to know how to set this all up... please help...

(The official names aren't really Lunar and Lunar 2, but i know alot of people wich refers to it...)

For PSX, I suggest ePSXe.
For Sega/Mega CD, I suggest Gens.
I have the Gens and i have the game... which BIOS do I dowload and where DO I put them and all that stuff?? How do I run the file/??? Thnx for your help btw
You'll need to get 2 bios or more. Depending what region is your game.

Are you games compressed in an archive (.zip or .rar)?
If so, you'll need to extract them to a directory first.
Once you did that, you'll need to setup the bios. You can put the bios in the same directory as the emulator, that's what i usually do. Extract them too. :)
To choose the bios options, go into "Option" then "BIOS/Misc files..."
In the "Configure Sega CD bios files" part, hit the Change button for the USA bios, and select the USA bios your previously extracted in the emulator directory.
Do the same with the European bios.
After that, you'll be ready to play. Go into "File", then "Open ROM". Int he drop down list, select "Sega CD Images", and choose your image file. (What you extracted for the Lunar archive).
Normally, if everything goes well, the game should boot. You'll need to format the internal and external ram. To do this, Hold (A) and hit (Start).
You'll find your way from there i guess. :)
There might be a problem though. Your game might not be in the ideal format. If it seems to be the case, just send me a pm, or reply here!

I got this problem...I just downloaded Street Fighter III - The New Generation for MAME, but I need the .chd file missing in my romset...the thing is that i've been looking for it and I found a way to make a C++ program that converts the .cue and .bin files into the all mighty .chd...Does this really works or it's just a workaround wannabe??

Not a BIOS problem. Your ROM files aren't complete, or have the wrong parts. I used to need to add three or four files to every Neo-Geo ROM archive I had in order for them to show up... There probably is a simpler way, though.Quote:

Ok I have Gens... I have The Lunar Iso thingy Lunar TO1 Model 2048 and I have Sega cd bios Us and Europe and Sega Mega-cd Bios Japan... I have those three in their correct directories and then when I try to play the game it shows Sonic... then it says Lunar Silver Star... then it goes black... or it says The exterior ram is not formatted would you like to format it? And it says Cool or No Way I click Cool and it says Correctly formatted... then it freezes and doesn't do anything... :-/
I had the same problem, except sometimes the game would work, and others it wouldn't...

Could you post a screen shot showing the files for the one of the CD games so I can check they have the correct names, this does play a big role in getting the CD games running because if the game looks for a CD sound track but can't find it, it will just crash on you.Quote:
