Beat Saints Row the Third with a buddy - fun game, but pretty underwhelming ending
Looks like I'll have to grab SR4 at some point now :-)
Duck Tales Remastered 100%
Extreme difficulty actually isn't that hard, provided you stay focused and plan a tiny bit. I finished the game with 7 extra lives. I only died twice. Otherwise, everything else is simple.
Back to more Saints Row 3 after I put kiddo to bed.
God of War 1 on PS2...
I beat Dragon's Crown on Hard last night and opened up Infernal. I've completed all the Adventurer's Guild Quests that are available to me, so now I guess I just have to slog through this last difficulty
I was totally thinking to myself "I bet I could platinum this game", then I saw that I need to beat it 5 more times (each character class) and said "fuck that". That's at least 10+ hours per character - no thanks
Beat Shin megami 4, a couple of days ago. Now to do it another 3 times.
I got the Platinum in The Last Of Us this morning, but was underwhelmed by the whole multiplayer - hope the DLC can pull something special out of the bag.:slap:
Now off for a change of pace - try to get through Ratchet and Clank - All 4 One, the only one I couldn't finish in one sitting :bore:
Finished up Jak and D. Started Jak and D 2. Yup.
Saints Row 3 :platinum:
Onto something else. Not sure what yet.
I thoroughly enjoyed it. Mainly from an "unrealistic things are happening, so we're going to play everything over the top." GTA style games usually annoy me, because they try and be somewhat serious while allowing you to essentially destroy an entire city, which kinds of creates a dichotomy of what the story is telling me is happening and what the gameplay is telling me is happening. SR3 has everything over the top -- the missions are silly, the story is silly, and the characters are silly. Everything is on the same playing field, which is nice.
To each their own. I hate a lot of games that everyone else seem to adore.
Sorry, I didn't hear you. I was falling through an airplane. :P
(actually, that was a good explanation. I understand now)
*fake +rep I can't give on my phone
Arino's retro challenge for the ds. The game is fun, though the racing was ok.
Dirt 3 career mode 100% at last.
Note to self: don't play car games 3 different times on separate accounts, it's a waste of time.
Shovelware game.
Soul of Darkness from Gameloft.
Because Boredom
Saints Row IV
100%
Super powers made the game freakin awesome.
Having beaten Kingdom of Amalur: Reckoning and gotten the :platinum: I can safely say that I will never ever play it again. Holy shit.
Resident Evil 2 Leon/A - PS1 played on PS Vita.
22 saves. :o 4:15 play time, D Rank.
Metal Gear Solid 2 (PS Vita)
Fantastic game, nice to know the story this time too. Even if it was a mindfuck. o_O
Now, to get/play MGS1 on PS1, or fork out stupid amounts for the Gamecube version? :-/ £40+ on eBay.
Well I finally beat Mass Effect 3, got the green ending on my first try. Thought it was a fitting ending. Shepard dies for the greater good and all that jazz. I'm happy with it. Did the same thing in Dragon Age.
I have to say, though... *this* is the ending everyone raged about? I mean, sure it was over a bit too quickly but jesus guys! It's the journey that matters!
Edit: Btw, the ending of the Citadel DLC was perfect. Better than the actual ending in fact. Loved it when the crew says "It's been a good ride" and Shep answers "The best." Awesome scene, so much was said with only those two words.
The issue stems from the other two endings being exactly the same.
Dragon Age had multiple endings with unique cutscenes and consequences. If you chose to, your character could die. Or sacrifice someone else. Or sacrifice no one. Etc.
Mass Effect has 3 coloured versions of the same thing.
So effectively the game that wasn't pushing choice as a feature had choices, and the one that did didn't. People were understandably upset.
It's especially jarring if your character had a tendency for ruthlessness, selfishness, and self preservation. Apparently he/she just decides "nah, fuck living. SPACE JESUS AWAAAAAY!" because that's how the story ends.
Probably doesn't help either that they had a better series of endings written that were either A.) not completed because the game was rushed, or b.) rewritten because they were leaked early, depending on who you ask.
I understand being upset, I just don't understand the absolute OUTRAGE that this caused, including death threats as far as I know. The rest of the game was good, and I personally don't let something like this taint the entire experience.
Although it needs to be said that I was pure Paragon all the way through the trilogy so the space jesus choice made sense for my character, I guess.
In the end though it's all good, the Citadel DLC was the perfect apology I suppose.
Talisweat people. They just take everything far too seriously.
Alternatively, these people never dealt with Baldur's gate which pulled pretty much all of the same shit.
GOOD ENDINGS ARE ALWAYS CANON BECAUSE HEROES CAN ONLY BE MINDLESS LAWFUL GOOD MORONS WHO DO BITCH ERRANDS FOR OLD LADIES FOREVER. Etc.
The Witcher 2 was pretty interesting in that regard. You basically walk up to the final boss, you talk to him and come to an understanding, then instead of any kind of bossfight, you have the option to say "you know what? you're right" then turn around and simply walk away. Credits roll, gg.
Something like that.
Also I went back to see the other endings too, and well... yeah, I think I can see what people meant. They really should've given the option to choose from a variety of different endings a la Dragon Age, because even with the Extended Cut + DLC this is still really underwhelming.
Now excuse me while I listen to this song on repeat and proceed to have all the feels.
Yeah actually I *just* finished watching a video on the original pre-Extended Cut ending. Holy fuck was that a trainwreck! At least now I got my awesome bro moment with Garrus before the final push instead of him magically teleporting onto the Normandy. And all the other shit that was originally missing.
Yeah in comparison to the original, the EC is okay-ish, but I can't help feeling like it's still not the really powerful conclusion this trilogy deserved. That's what the Citadel DLC is for, though. I hope you played it.
Yeah that's how I always felt! And no I haven't played the Citadel DLC yet. I haven't played any DLC but the Javik one, but I've heard others say good stuff about it too. Might pick it up someday when it's on sale though.
Oh and another thing I never liked about Mass Effect 3: Harbinger. What happened? No seriously what the heck happened? :|
Like, what happened to Harbinger after the end? I'm assuming the same as all other Reapers?
Yeah definitely get the DLC when you have the chance, and make sure it's the very last thing you play in the game. It's basically the perfect sendoff for the entire trilogy.
No no I mean how they butchered the character. In ME2 he was pushed as the über Reaper. The largest and most dangerous of them all. Then in ME3 he's basically reduced to a cameo and instead of all the awesome lines from ME2 we get some buzzing sounds. Why Bioware, why!? D:
Sounds good, I definitely will! Would you recommend the other DLC or should I skip them?
