For me, my younger brother had borrowed a computer club Sinclair Spectrum and a handful of games back in 1982. Among them was Manic miner, horace goes skiing and horace and the spiders. On the basis of those three games I had to have a spectrum. a few weeks later I had a second hand spectrum with Jetpac and manic miner included. I was hooked
My brothers had an NES, SNES, and a Genesis, and I played them a bunch.
Duck Hunt, F-Zero, and Sonic 2 were probably my favorite games back then and almost certainly why I'm into gaming.
I watched my family play. It was a way to bond with my father.
Lived in a seaside town and arcades were part of life from an early start :)
it has to be Super Mario Bros. for the NES that got me started and Street Fighter II is what really solidified my love for videogames.
I follow the same way as my brother :) With our so loved Super Nintendo!

I inherited a Nintendo 64 with many accessories, controllers, and games from my late father.
That was almost 14 years ago, so don't feel sympathy for me; I'm fine.
I just wish I hadn't sold my special edition of the Legend of Zelda to Gamestop... the $5, I see now, was totally a ripoff.
The arts and the legend

Sonic for the geneses, good old days
I always dabbled in video games because my older brother owned a NES and SNES. But it wasn't until I was nine years old that I saw one of my friends playing Pokemon Red. I had no idea what to do or where to go. It was the first time I had ever seen an overhead top-down view in a game, let alone an RPG.
The Kanto region seemed so huge, and I loved the Pokemon designs. What kid doesn't want a monster companion to raise into a fighting machine?
I played over 150 hours of Pokemon Red and completed the Pokedex. From there, I moved onto other games and other genres. It's been my hobby for almost 20 years and I hope for another 20 more.
My dad brought me an old nintendo :D

Super Mario 3 was my introduction to video games and then sonic 1 made me a huge fan.
My cousins had a snes and we would play Animaniacs, Mortal Combat, and Donkey Kong Country. Soon after my dad bought a snes for us but something was up with setting it up so he instead bought a N64. First games were A Bugs Life, F1 World Gran Prix, and Motocross.
Just the fact that they were fun and could played with your friends and family.
My cousin and I used to challenge each other on games he showed me Pokemon Minecraft Runescape so many games I play today are thanks to him.

Watching my family play the original Donkey Kong Country. What ~really~ got me into gaming was going online and discovering all sorts of tips on Ocarina of Time, back when IGN was GameSages.
I once saw a friends brother play a game where you could steal cars, beat up people and be a massive crook. I was instantly sold! That game would be the first grand theft auto.
