If you want to look at both ends of the spectrum dealing with an outbreak of this nature, look at New Zealand as the gold standard of the correct way... and then other countries like India, UK and I'm sorry to say, the US as bad examples (although maybe the US is a little better now with Trump gone).
Australia isn't super tough like NZ, but some states over here are tougher than others.
I don't mind it. I can still go out to get groceries, petrol and pick up my mail. Go to the doctor if I need to and I got both my pfizer shots during lockdowns.
I can't visit my sister and her family though. That should change in the next couple of weeks hopefully but we'll see.
