Cleaning PS1 laser
Hello lovely lads of EP.
Almighty Megaman having problems with access here! But that's for another thread elsewhere...
My PS1 is starting to struggle to read discs after 12 years of service and it just dawned on me I never cleaned the laser. What should I use to do so and how?
If it still doesn't work, is there any potentiometer I could turn to calibrate the lens?

Not sure about the pots, but cleaning is super simple; just dip a q-tip in a bit of rubbing alcohol (70% or higher preferably), gently swab the lens, then use the dry end to gently swab it dry.

Cotton bud/swab (Americans call it a q-tip, which is a brand name) and isopropyl alcohol (100% isopropanol).
Not 70%, 80% or whatever...use 100% or very close to it. If you don't use the purest you risk fogging the lens.
100% shouldn't be difficult to find.
