Everyone remembers the first anime they watched. It opened their eyes to the wonders of anime. My first one was Voltron,I remember watching it before school. I thought it was cool, especially since they had a girl on their team. Yeah, she's a princess, but she was cool. The narrator is the guy who does Optimus Prime's voice. I liked that it didn't talk down to kids and presented a good story. What was your first anime?
:D
My first anime, although it should've not been on my list at the time was Ranma 1/2
Yu-Gi-Oh! or :shudder: Poke'Mon.
saint seiya - lots of mythology and epic fighting...of course i never got to see it in its original format - only Spanish at the time..i dont remember how old i was when i watched it tho..oh and it was Latin because i watched it in the Dominican republic when i was visiting my grandparents eons ago.
I know I saw a lot of them on Nickelodeon when I was very young, and I didn't realize they were from Japan. Frankly, some of them like Mysterious Cities of Gold (which was a joint project with France) seemed too serious to be on a kid's television channel in the 1980's.
But the first anime I saw when I was a teenager was Battle Angel..which totally spoiled me since Kishiro's work is at the pinnacle imo.
I had never seen anime before, I was 13 years old and was with a few friends in someones house and someone decided to put on End of Evangelion, you know, a good starter anime to watch.
I remember going home and being completely mindfucked after watching that anime, nothing else was as strong of a mindfuck.
The first serious anime I watched that wasn't some kids TV show (Transformers/Voltron/Mysterious Cities of Gold. Was either Akira or Venus Wars. I can't remember for the life of me which one I watched first. But I remember watching them on the SciFi channel's week of anime that they use to have on back in the day. I can't remember how old I was, but I think it was before junior high.
Voltron came out in 1983-4, Tranformers was about 1985, Mysterious cities of gold was I think one of the first cartoons on Nickelodeon, about 1983-4. I could be wrong.
Dragonball duh
Young Jack and the Witch/ Shounen Jack to Mahou Tsukai. Yes, ima an old ninja :old: lol.
The first I ever watched, accidentally, was Dragon Ball, and it was when I was 7 years old. It played randomly on Saturday mornings at 7 a.m. on Fox. How did this get popular with such a ridiculous time slot? It's not bad, and it's a far different tonal shift compared to D.B.Z.
I honestly don't know but most likely it was Pokemon or some other BS.
eck, Poke'Mon..... the games are great, TCG pretty good, and the show needs a major overhaul before they release another one...
