The Metal Gear games are a gift to humanity from the gaming gods.
Well yeah, who doesn't like it? Especially when it was first released for psx console. Its amazing!
Love this series to death, I've played 1, Twin Snakes, 2, 4 and Peace Walker. Fucking love this shit.
Metal gear? Why not Metal Gear Solid.
They are different game series', you know. ;)
Fuck, you beat me to it.
Yeah, Metal Gear has been around since 1987. I can't remember the name of the system that it was first released on, but the very first game was ported to the NES, as well as a sequel which wasn't worked on by Kojima.
As for how much I love the series: Yeah, they're --- nope, sorry, couldn't keep a straight face. I really don't give a shit about them. They're entertaining, but not the holy grail of gaming for me.
Yea you're right, didnt think of that. They're part of the story so we'll give them credit also even though they aren't Hideo's.
The system you're looking for is the MSX. :nerd: Which also had the true sequel to the original Metal Gear published on it. It didn't get an official localization though until I think Metal Gear Solid Subsistance. There was also a decent 2-D release on the Gameboy Color which was akin to second Metal Gear on the MSX. My all-time favorite will always be the first Metal Gear for the NES though. I played that game for hours on end when I was a kid. It had a great soundtrack too.
Judging it just on the NES game, I can say Metal Gear is boring and in no way awesome.
Yeah, I'm judging everything based on an NES game I don't like, but so what. I can do that because I'm an ass. So there.
Yeah the game is just awesome and the voice acting of David is just fantastic.. Love the series.. played them all from NES to PS3..
but see, according to wikipedia
it is hideo's

so really metal gear is part of the metal gear solid series, even the MGS series links itself to the first 2 original MG games
and i mean link as in the story is literally perfectly connected to MGS, and not some simple spiritual successor
I've only completed Twin Snakes on the Gamecube and Peace Walker on the PSP, but I really liked both of them.
I own 2, 3, and 4 as well, I just need time to play them...
MGS is indeed my personal favorite game series of all time. Here's how I rank them:
3 > 4 > Peace Walker > 1 > 2
