Dark Half - SNES

SirYoink’s doing the hacking, Eien ni Hen is doing the translation. A few others helped out along the way. The end result so far is a beta patch with the following completed!

75% of graphics hacking completed.
75% of menus translated.
75% of monster names translated.
75% of item names translated.
50% of dialogue translated.
To Do: Item/Monster name expansion.

the games at patch version 0.60 for a english translation, maybe within the next year or so it might actually get a complete translation, i know i've been waiting a few years for that myself so its good news :)

And all I can say is that I've never heard of it. At all.

dark half is awesome, not sure if the copy I have is the same but from what I've played of it it seems mostly finished. i can post it if anyones interested.

As my first post ever, when it comes to RPG I am a big fan of these games! I would enjoy this game from the looks of it!

if i'm not mistaken thats the 25% version Grouch, at least i think it is, but for those wondering (i could've posted this up top but oh well) you mainly play the game periodically swapping places between a paladin (light) and satan (dark) and if i remember right the ending more or less depends on which one you choose in the final fight and it might be obvious who the 2 main people in that fight are ;) also, does someone know a clean copy of the Dark Half rom i could use? i have the one from here and another site and after patching neither will run in zsnes or snes9x (says its a corrupt rom or something when i start it after patching)

or better yet, if someone could patch the game with that new patch it'd be great, patch can be found here (i guess its alright to post those links here, dunno) http ://klepto.r8.org/ or http://www.romhacking.net/trans/306/ there

if you're looking for the non-translated version Attachment 27121 try this one. you also might want to try version 151-402 of zsnes.

well uh, i think i now see the problem (comparing file sizes between this and a headered version of the rom). i think this unheadered version won't work right with the patch and btw i already use zsnes151

this (unheadered? version): 3,145,728 bytes
headered version: 3,146,240 bytes

odd as it is, something simple like that can really throw off a patch sometimes, now i just need to find a headered version to test... i'll post or edit this post after i figure it out

What is Dark Half? An RPG game for the snes? I'm in America, so I'm guessing this was a JAP or EUR release.

You do know you can add a header yourself, right? Just fetch Snestool.exe and use it's Add Header feature.

I'll definitely look into this once it's complete. The game sounds pretty awesome.

did not know that, thanks, i'll try it and see if it works

edit: snestool doesn't work on vista (dumb incompatabilities), checking for a different program now

got it :) had to use this http://www.romhacking.net/utilities/400/ NSRT 3.4 Windows which works on windows vista, just add a blank header then patch and its good to go (this could probably help with any other patch issues like that too)
