R.I.P Demonoid (Updated!)

Demonoid.com, one of the greatest torrents sites to grace the net, has been shut down today, Tuesday, Sept. 25th, 2007.

As quoted from Wikipedia.org:

"As of Tuesday, 25th September 2007, Demonoid is currently down, with no prior warnings from any moderators of the site. Both the main torrent page and the forum (fora) are no longer accessible. It is still possible to ping and trace the IP address of the site and it locates itself as in Canada. As of 6:45pm EST on 9-25-07, SSH and SMTP services are no longer active.

Torrentfreak.com has since reported this is due to legal actions from the CRIA (Canadian Recording Industry Association) who ordered Demonoid's ISP to shut down the site."

Though it doesn't effect this awesome website, to those who were also lucky enough to be members, I'm sure you'll miss it just as much as myself. R.I.P, old friend, R.I.P.

I need real proof, not from a competing site. If you can still ping the server, it hasn't been shut down. I'm running a torrent being tracked there, too.

And thus, a resounding NOOOOOOO!!!! was heard.

(before realizing that now the torrents that would've been put up there are now going to be available elsewhere)

And thus peace returned to the lands.

Newer torrents can track themselves. (Not sure what it's called, but they don't need a tracker once they're active)

And yeah, just today I downloaded a DC Bios pack from Demonoid even though I couldn't connect to the tracker (off-line?) because I could connect to the seeds/peers through DHT.

I truly hope this is a temporary shut down. Though to see that article on wikipedia put me into a state of awe, perhaps I should have duly noted how quickly it was posted. I suppose all a lot of us can do is hope.

You can't trust Wikipedia 100%.

Probably about 95% of the info there is accurate, correct or true.

Which means about 5% of it isn't.

Had I really thought out what happened(sudden shut down with no message from moderators), I probably wouldn't have even made this thread. Apologies to anyone I gave a scare.

Sure, but they're a joke. They do pretty much nothing outside of collecting money from musicians. I don't remember EVER hearing anything about them doing something significant.
