Verizon are changing their bandwidth to twice as much as they advertised it. Instead of 1.5mbps/368k they'll now give you speeds up to 3mbps/784k. Their price is also going up from $35 to $38, but if you sign up for a year it's only $30.
So yeah, this is great news for me at least. Who's signing up for this deal?
I think I'm still going with my sbc dsl but that sounds like a hella deal!!

DSL is a dedicated service, unlike cable. If by bandwidth limit you mean a certain amount of GB per month, then no, DSL lines provide unlimited bandwidth. Unless you live in a very rural area, Verizon DSL is probably available, especially if you live in or near a big city.Quote:

*for all the DSL customers* I am not dissing your service. For me, in my area, DSL is just not a viable option.
They give you 1.5mbps/368k now, and this will double next month. And it is cheaper. After they boost their speeds, their service will only be slightly slower than cable providers that charge $50/mo. DSL is meant for people in densely populated areas... cable in very congested areas with many users can suck, since the bandwidth is shared, but DSL always gives you a permanent speed/line... if it's available in your area.Quote:

I just realized that my speeds have changed, up until now I've heard that the connection speed-ups were only rumours. I am now a proud owner of a 3mbit/768k connection. :D Has anyone else had their speeds boosted yet?

Like Soeru said, the new speed is 3Mbit down and 768Kbit up. The 768Kb up is what most interest me, as I currently only have 360-ish for $34.95. If you sign a year agreement, they give you the modem free, as well as a free router with wireless support. ;)
yea...i only have 384up speeds also, and i'd really love to have 768, but they don't offer service in my area... :(
Actually our Cable dealer here has 10 mbps connection over all. My DSL is pretty slow 28 up/28 down. for 26 bucks. :(Quote:

I hear that most Cable providers send out abuse letters when people use a lot of bandwidth per month... Or they just cap it to like 30Gb per month for everybody... now that's just gay.
Indeed, Verizon is giving out a pretty good deal, fuck Optimum Online. :P I'd reccomend the connection to anyone.
Installation is painfully easy, but I reccomend not installing their software. Just set up a broadband connection from the Connection manager in Windows after hooking up everything up properly. They also call you when the connection is ready, so no need to test it every morning. :P They always tell you that the connection will be ready later than it's activated for some reason...
