Hello there, I'm uh... Well, new :P I stumbled upon this site abotu a week ago, looking for some roms, and... Well, I believe it is a good community I might join :P
I have a question... Does any of you own a Flash Advance card? 'cause I'd like to hear some opinions on it before buying one... If you do not condone the use of such hardware please tel lme and I will stop immediately : ;_;
Any comment or suggestion appreciated :D
Those topics ask about where to buy, but there's no real opinions on their usage... What I'd like is some opinions from people who already have them :)

I have the EZFlash Advance 256, and I love it. It will hold quite a few games, depending on the sizes. On average, I can put 3 - 5 good quality games, or many small games on it.
I recommend the USB connection, as there are no docking stations to sit on your desk. You just plug the USB in the PC, and the other end is made to fit into the GBA Link port on the GBA (regular or SP). The games are transferred straight to the Flash Cart through the GBA. I don't think they even sell the parallel (printer port) version anymore, but you can bet it would be slower...
The software for the PC can be a bit tricky to set up, but once it is up and running, the GUI is pretty straightforward. Cheats can be assigned to specific button presses, and game saves can be imported or exported easily.
The site I bought mine from seems to have disappeared, but there are plenty of other sites where you can purchase Flash Carts.
I recommend buying an X-Rom 512M.
Plenty o' size, cheap.

With the X-Rom, you get an incredibly fast command line flashing program (not like this /!"$"/$" little writer for those who know about flashcarts) and a good compatibility.

Found this site. Ive been there a few times. Gives really useful information and a list of shops. Ive linked it straight to the shops but u can navigate around and find what info u need there.
What I know so far, is that I'm getting a 256 card, no specs known... I do know it uses the USB port tho.
I want to know: for example, if I play, say, Pokemon Fire Red in my flash card, then I want to put another game(s) in it, can I back up what I've got in the card (save included) and store it for later use?
Yes you can. These are referred to as 'savers', and can be backed up to the PC using the EZFlash Software.Quote:

No, at least on the EZFlash, you can't. They save the files differently, and the emulator can't use the Flash save and vice verse.Quote:
