I know this has been posted before, but that was before a lot of more gmail users. Since we have had the gmail invitations thread I think it is relavent to repost this stuff. These are tools that help notify you when you get a new mail and etc. I have tested all of them. They work.

Currently the official one isnt working for me |Edit| Its now working great|Edit| (but I think the flood protection on me might still be enabled as I only recently uninstalled the firefox gmail notify).
Eh, try out the official one if you want it to work in the future seems to be good advice.
This plugin for Firefox... is one l33t piece of software. Great find, now my mail is... hmm, still one click away. :wacko: Well, good thing I can see if there are new messages every minute. :D
Your right, Soeru. But the firefox one aparently puts too much stress on the servers, and thats why it will either have to change or it will come to not working.
(I got hit by flood protection using the firefox one).
The official one is working well now that some time has passed, so if your in windows. Then its the one to get I suppose.

Yes, its called sighning up for a passport account using your gmail address.
MSN messanger uses your passport login, sdo just goto the passport site and make a new account for the gmail address. (remember to invite everyone with the new address though).

One question, if I sign up for Passport.NET with my Gmail account, will I still recieve all the crap those mofos send to your hotmail address? Like MSN offers, info, and other useless shit... cause if so, I won't because I don't want the tiniest spec of spam in my account. :).

Okay... so where it sais "Sign in Name": (Blank space) @passport.com is where I have to type my full gmail address? Would it end up as [email protected]@passport.com? 0.o
Goto https://login.passport.net then click on the small blue text that says "Get one now".
You should be able to select to use your own email address. I have other friends using plain [email protected] addresses and even yahoo emails and the like.
I've noticed you can't change your username in MSN messenger, I'm stuck with my email address as a screen name. Bah, no worries, I never use MSN anyway. :wacko: Thanks for the help.
I'm really really satisfied of my FireFox extension. I set it to 1 minute and it's incredible. Gmail is fast, but the combination of the extension and gmail really pwns. I highly recommend it to anyone using FireFox.

Yeah, I actually thought that too. But when you login, there is a prompt at the right like if someone was talking to you saying something about activation. Click it, login to net passport. It will send you to a page with 1 button, something like Activation. Click it, wait a minute or so, you'll receive an e-mail about Activation. Click the link in it. Do whatever they say and wait 1 minute or so agian, youll receive an email called Verification. Click the link in it, it will bring you to another page. Click the only button named Verification. wait about 1 minute again. Re login in msn and now you can change your nickname. ;)Quote:
