HDD Cloning

well.. i tried to clone a hdd which had win2k on it, boots fine up to the win2k login bit, it logs in, and just before it loads the desktop content, it loops itself re-logging in..

any idea why?

I used Partition Magic 8 to copy the 10.2gb hdd to a 120GB. It copied the exact same size and attributes etc.
And yes, the same system except the hdd was used with the clone.

Original HDD is a 10.2GB Seagate.
Clone HDD is a 120GB Seagate.
both copies i did were fat32

Also, i couldn't use ghost becuase that hdd wouldn't come up in the list..

you getting any sort of error message? or does it just restart unexpectedly, have u tried in safe mode?

no error message, tried all boot modes.

Tried doing a clean install and just tranferring the files over?

the point of it is to try and not lose any settings...

I haven't heard of this before. Do a scan on the harddrive you cloned too, to make sure data consistency is good (I know its a new hd, but you never know). I would ask Partitionmagic Techsupport on this one.
