Malwarebytes is pretty good
Thanks I will try a full scan with that over night and hope it doesn't try and kill all the software I actually use, just glad I store all my roms and iso's and portable drives that are kept very clean
P.S. I think I'm clear now anyway
I use AVG free,Comodo Free Firewall,MalwareBytes and Peerblock, Those have kept me clean and safe for a very long time.
I use Windows Defender exclusively. Having any more than one AV software causes interaction problems, memory leaks and more. Windows Defender comes pre installed with Windows, all you have to do is enable it. How much porn are you downloading to need that much protection, GoB?
I use super antispyware professional plus. its free for 14 days but you can still use it even after that. i used to have microsoft security essentials however since they will no longer support xp in a couple of months i wont use it anymore.
ALOT :really:
Sersly though only Antivirus I have is AVG, Comodo is the best free firewall you can get,Malwarebytes isn't a antivirus its anti malware, protects the system along with your antivirus (PRO ver only , thanks to Spose :D) and Peerblock stops bad ips from going and coming to your computer, especially helpful for torrents, gives you a window in real time whats being blocked, can easily unblock a ip by right clicking on it.
So its really not that much :P
On my old XP rig I use AVG free antivirus, Spybot Search & Destroy and Zonealarm free firewall.
Honestly there isn't any "best" free av imo, people have different preferences and experiences with particular software.
Avast has been known to be a pain for people that download a lot of stuff and/or have hacked software (or particular kinds of software) on their PC. False positives.
Bitdefender can be a bit odd, here's an example:

Many people dislike AVG but I've used it on many PC's (mostly other people) with little trouble at all.
Spybot will spam you with changes prompts if you're installing/uninstalling other stuff while it's active.
I will stick with avast, I just needed a second option to double check with :)
I will be replacing a bunch of software now though over the next few days that I really did not want to have to do but I like to have a clean system and mine was exploited, funny thing is about half of what was detecting as a virus is not now, so whatever I did have is gone now :P
I used AVG myself for a long time as it happens, just found Avast less intrusive while scanning
I'm running Norton 360, Malwarebytes anti-malware and superantispyware on my computer.(yeah i know Norton isn't free lol)
I'm using webroot and it's the best I've ever had.
Linux :P
