It is being developed by Hyperstrange and CreativeForge Games, and published by Running With Scissors.     Shortly after Sonic The Hedgehog 3, there was Sonic & Knuckles, a game that allowed you to put a Sonic 2 and 3 cart into the top of the S&K cart and basically make it one whole game and play as Knuckles in those games.
