Default Need to know difference between PAL and NA Super Mario Brothers for NES

Hi everyone. New poster here who wanted to ask a question for you all. I'm building a Raspberry Pi machine and was looking for stuff to load it with. I figure a good place to start was what the NES and SNES classics come with. But I'm having trouble finding a NA/US version of Super Mario Bros. I can pretty much guess why. I do see EU versions though.

SO I just wanted to know if there was a noticeable difference between the PAL and NA version of the game.

PAL will be 50Hz for old roms like that. Any NTSC (Japan, US, Canada etc) roms will be 60Hz.
Also a lot of the old PAL stuff is pretty much shoddy ports from NTSC iirc.

You might be able to rip NTSC rom from the Mario All Stars disc dump but I dunno anything about ripping contents of Wii games. There might also be a Wii VC release.
With either of those they might not be here anyway now idk

    Spoiler warning:

Thanks for the reply. I did a little more googling and found something called a Kazzo for dumping NES carts. Are these reliable or is there a better option?

I don't know about dumping, but did you check the Upload Services forum here? You'll be able to find what you're looking for.

Yes it is. I knew someone with one who owed me a favor a few years back. They wanted to get into both dumping but also burning their own games so we did a trade on info for product at cost and had an Earthbound made. Kazoo comes with NES, SNES, or both on a board. The software on it is pretty cut and dry, but you need to know what sizes (for NES) or if Lo/HiROM (for SNES) to use or it will foul it up. If you have it, you plug it into the PC, pop the game in the slot, click a few buttons telling it what it needs, and it just dumps the files to your computer pretty fast.

That's all there is, same in reverse, if you wanted to make your own game you need to figure out what the PRG/CHR sizes and any memory mapper/battery combo a game uses and buy the right board from the site, then flash the game from the menu.

The difference is speed. PAL NES games are slower, and Super Mario Bros is one of the worst offenders since Nintendo had no experience whatsoever.

    And yes, is very noticeable.
