To Firefox 3 users

Several people are reporting problems downloading from the main site when using Firefox 3, stating that it takes them to the FTP directory instead of starting the download. This doesn't seem to affect everybody, but if you experience this error, try another browser (the older versions of Firefox still work).

Or as an alternative, you can download the IE Tab add-on for Firefox, which will allow you to browse EP's main site using the Internet Explorer engine. That way you don't have to switch browsers.

Still, keep us updated if you guys run into any errors.

Delete everything of the firefox history cookies files

and try again it will work.

This is a bug in Firefox 3 with the way it handles the FTP RFC. It's not correctly following the specifications for handling an ftp connection. We'll try and engineer a work around to this issue but if you encounter this problem, your best bet is to use Firefox 2.x or another browser..

Another thing I noticed is that it allowed me to download it once... But if I tried again it brought me to that. FTP (File Transfer Protocol System) So... if you download it once you likely will have to download it off a different browser next time. Not sure why.

The last firefox update (3.whatever) took care of the ftp problem for me, but I can't download anything using Google Chrome. Same problem or is it not supported?

I attempted using both Firefox 3 and Internet Explorer. Firefox gave me the FTP thing, and IE (v 6.0) gave me "Cannot find server."

I have the same problem as Messiah, but it's only with the ScummVM games. I could download them a few days ago but now all I get is this error: "Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at ftp.emuparadise.org:8233"

Yeah, there's a problem with it, I'm getting the same error with random games. MasJ will fix it as soon as possible.

Well, the ScummVM problem was fixed but are Google Chrome users still facing problems using the FTP ? I'm trying to look into this so some feedback would be great

EDIT: I looked into the Chrome issue and it appears that the problem is with the way Chrome handles FTP. It doesn't. Even sites like dell and hp are having problems with it. The only option if you MUST use Chrome is to use the latest build of Chromium in which google says they've fixed this problem. I've placed a notice on the download pages (it only shows up if you're using Chrome..) so that folks are made aware of the issue.

I have the newest version of firefox and the site runs fine except downloads from this EU server the roms are hosted on takes for ever 1 to 2 hours for 200 mb and up is crazy never happened b4 i upgraded firefox I'm on a hi speed connection too.
