    Default Codebreaker Codes with FreeMCBoot

Is it possible to use CB codes with burnt games if my PS2 is softmodded using FreeMCBoot? If not, is there another softboot method that would allow me to use CB codes with backups?

    Thanks.

You need a modified Codebreaker elf, if I don't get beaten to it, I'll try and upload one tomorrow.

    Thank you both. Much obliged.

However, not sure of my question was fully understood or not, or if i fully understand so just some clarification.

What I wanted to know is if the regular old CB disc would work with burnt backups? If not so, then the modded elf file will? I don't need a backup of CB unless that's the only way.

Also, what's ESR? Its mentioned in that thread that was linked to.

Once you do get it just pop it on your USB stick

I would then config FreeMCboot to first look for the Codebreaker Elf then if it can't find that then boot ESR via the memcard then if you don't have a USB stick inserted it will boot your ESR DVD's directly but if you have the USB stick in then it will boot the Codebreaker first before booting ESR

Either that or just add Codebreaker to your FreeMCBoot menu

I'm sure Shardnax will advise you well enough though at the time

    Patched Codebreaker

Make a folder named BOOT on the root of the drive and extract to there.
    I've included CB v9 and v10.

ESR is the softmod that boots backup DVD's that are patched with the ESR patcher, FreeMCboot does not let you play backups on it's own, it just lets you boot elf files without too much messing

If you have the codebreaker CD actually I own it aswell so can answer this easy, no it will not work with backups at all on a softmodded PS2, it would on a mod chipped PS2 though, even using swapmagic you can't realy use it because it can't detect the new disc correctly if it's a backup

It's actually easier using the patched elf as there is no disc changing going on, just pop in your game boot up the PS2, codebreaker auto loads from USB, select your codes, hit start game, ESR code starts and boots the ESR patched DVD... unless Shardnax had it set up differently.

It might boot to uLaunch, if it does you can start ESR manually from uLaunch.

When I do dig the PS2 out again I will gove info on how to have it auto run when the USB stick or whatever USB storage is used to keep CB.elf on and if the USB storage device is removed it will boot direct to ESR

You could also add CB.elf to the main FreeMCBoot menu, rather than running one elf to run another

So, it all works. I got the games to boot with cheats.

You're all wonderful people, and I'd give you cookies if I could.

    Thank you all very much!

Its possible to hot swap a real disk with a burned one if you are using ARmax or a codebreaker version that isn't supported with ESR. Just to break that down, what you do is insert a real PS2 game, select your codes, then start it up, right on the next screen eject the disk and insert your backup, and if the codes you selected were for the backup game it should load up and the codes will work. Sometimes there are codes for ARmax that nobody made for Codebreaker, or vice versa.
