GOG isn't any better than steam, just don't violate rules(like the person in the article you posted did multiple times and admitted to throughout the entire article. There is a major reason why this is a thing, considering Russians get games incredibly cheap and sell them for profit since they can easily sell to U.S and E.U people.

Why yes GOG IS better than steam, GOG is not a form of DRM, GOG is completely DRM FREE, on the other hand Steam IS a form of DRM.

With GOG you can burn the installer AND extras to a disc or a External HDD and use them whenever and however you want (say use on multiple computers, Lan party? Yup ), and they dont need any keys (some games do need a key to play online, those games originally required a key for online use) or internet access.
