why do some of us Taoists (yes, i'm a Taoist) pronounce Tao "Tao", and some pronounce Tao "Dao"? As in, for example, the pronunciation of the Tao Te Ching, which is basically a Taoist Bible. Some Taoists pronounce it Tao Te Ching, while some pronounce it Dao De Jing. Why? (hint: i already know the answer to this question, but i'd like to get your views).

Well the reason why this topic is so long is because everyone here is very curious of life. Weve got several questions and wonder what everyone elses opinnion is. awww let me tell you the real reason. The reason why this topic is so long is because people like you love to keep asking these why questions.

Well i didnt know you were going to bring your relationship with nacho into all this. But i know nacho may not love you at this time and its really killing you inside jimmy. He is madly in love with boshi. But if you would just express all your love to nacho in maybe a poem or a song. Im sure the hurting would stop or at least feel a little better.

-Good question. I actually did a report on Taoism once, for a social studies class. I always thought it was pronounced "Tao" until I did the research. I guess we just look at the T and assume it's a T sound. Maybe a better question would be "Why isn't it spelled with a D?"

that's because "dao" is how the chinese pronunce it... tao is just how it's written in english. i guess the people who sa "tao" are english and the people who say "dao" are chinese.Originally posted by RaNDOM

Yay someone answered my questions!
The workout machine I want really bad is the Bowflex, but it's an astounding 2000 dollars, as much as a top of the line computer.
I'll have to find a cheap imitation, no expression on the word "cheap".
