    Default Azureus

Hey hey i'm wondering if anyone knows any good programs to cap off the Network bandwidth so that i can run Azureus without my dad and bro moaning at me , I mean when i cap my upload to 10k per sec and download to 5k per sec it still hogs all the bandwidth and i'm kinda sick of it and so is my dad an bro.

    Thanks in advance.

Well I know you can cap it using Bitcomet. Don't know about Azureus. Can't you just pause it while they are using the other side of the netz?

How much bandwith do you have?

I know that when I limit it I notice a difference. If you don't have that much to begin with and are trying to share it with 3 people then things get slowed down very quickly.

Are you using the latest version of Azereus?

If so, go into your config and turn off the Distributed DB plugin. That will kill your bandwidth.
Also, BT will use a little more bandwidth than what you set it to. ie, if you tell
    Azereus to download/upload at 50/25 K/sec, it will use like 60/30 K/sec
that extra is so Azereus can keep track of everything (peers, seeds, tracker status, etc)

If your telling it to use only 10K/sec, on a 1Mbps connection, it ain't taking
    up all your bandwidth.

hey if you want to download something just keep it downloading overnight and tell your Dad and Bro to complaining coz they shouldn't be using the net in the middle of the night anyway.

I do leave it on during the night but i still get yelled at because my dad checks some crap out on the net in the morning before he goes to work.

but no worries now , I got ABC and it's a good program and not such a bandwidth/system resorce hog.

Thanks for your replys though guys.

Yeah, Azereus can be a bit of a pain unless you know exactly what your doing.

Azureus version 2.3.0.6 doesn't seem to take up as much bandwidth as it used to on a previous version I had until recently, but knowing your Dad and Bro they'll just complain anytime and everytime they get a slow connection no matter how small the loading time was.

ABC shouldn't affect your PSP problem at all.

You might also consider trying utorrent. It looks and feels very similar to Azureus without the massive system overhead (like 3MB RAM used with utorrent as opposed to 50MB RAM with Azureus) and I've never really had any problems capping the BW usage (OOL is a bitch when you upload at max for extened periods of time but capping it a bit allows me to stay under their radar).

imo abc is a bit of a downgrade from azureus especially when utorrent is soo similar to azureus but using less resources

ive used alot of programs abc, azureus, bt++, and alot more but after utorrent ive sever looked back give it a try its a 108k download and thats the program only 108k
