Improve that, please... (NO ASM, that's cheating!)

Well this is a perfect console app, but not a perfect appletOriginally Posted by Castlevania
I will admit that is impressive, I've been studying Java for 15 weeks now and I can say I suck, although we've been taught the ins and out of programming, come to think of it, we don't start doing actual programs for another 5 weeks.Originally Posted by marcos_20
Thanks Theo it's really nice to chear that
Well actually it happens everywhere. The only one solution is to learnOriginally Posted by TheotheImpaler

We weren't taught anything about applets, only console mode Java programs.
Have you seen me before?
Yeah, the Java API is damn useful... I just wish the code examples they have there were easier to understand... The more complex GUI stuff can make your brain ooze...
Out of all the books on Java I've read, Thomas Wu's book, "An Introduction to Object Oriented Programming with Java" is by far the bestest best, so if you can get your hands on it, don't let it go away...
Any other cool books, mark...? I used to like the Deitel books, but now I kinda don't...
I use Computing concepts with Java Essentials by Cay Horstmann, and yes marcos you are right, I suppose just with a bit more practice I'll be able to do a bit more, but I keep getting a bit distracted
Oh well I'll confine myself to the library this week
Hmm...I have a programming book store on the first floor of myOriginally Posted by Castlevania
school so I'll take a look at this title (maybe they'll have it) when the school starts again.
The one we're using in my programming class is called OLAB. I'm not sure if it's a book or not -- it's probably an acronym, but I'm not sure for what -- but the teacher likes to photocopy pages out of it and use it instead of our textbook. It's really, really good. It tells you how to do something, what it does, shows you the basic format, then lets you take one of their incomplete programs and finish it. It's really good.
We haven't learned about applets yet, just regular old applications. We haven't even gotten into GUI yet.
wow I thought I was the only one around here doing JAVA, I'm glad to see I have a few comrades to suffer with
In my time doing this course I've gone as far as programming classes, and sub-classess, and in lectures going into Hierachy and onwards from there. Also started programming in Eclipse now as opposed to BlueJ
