take the fan cord out of the motherboard, hen put it back in, might be a connectio problem. also, try a different fan. maybe the motor went out or something. don't reall know what it could be.

I would check the BIOS. If you're using smart fans, there's a chance the heat inside is too great, so check your heatsink, though that would have turned off the whole computer.

There's just so many things that could be the problem, though. Not without seeing pictures of the connection and knowing what fans are doing this (case fans, heatsink fan, what type of fans are used, etc) can we easily pinpoint the problem.

This happened to me once when I was building an AMD computer for a friend of mine. In my case, the CPU was fried, struck with the tiniest amount of static.

I'm afraid that maybe the problem. Try other remedies first though. Try taking it out and cleaning the ZIF socket out or something, checking for missing or bent pins. I hope it isn't fried for you sake, but that might be it.

This happened to me when I first built a PC. It turned out to be a mainboard AND a power supply issue. I was using an Epox 8rda+ with Cheiftech Scorpio case (in built psu) and an AMD XP 2100. It would sometimes boot, but mainly the fans would turn and the intenal lights would come on for a second then DEAD.

I bought a new psu and mainboard and it worked fine. The mainboard eventually totally fucked up, the PSU adapter actually melted to the mainboard after ignoring the problem for a month or so.
