Messed up sprites?(VBA)

I was playing SMA4 on VBA when something happened to my sprites and a bunch of gray pixels would show up when any sprite moves on the screen, I thought it was just a glitch in the rom so I opened SMA3
and had the same problem with it, what is happening with my ROMS and is there a way to fix this?

In VBA click on the Options menu, then mouse over Video, then mouse over Layers and make sure everything is checked. You might have pressed Ctrl+(number) and turned off a layer without realizing.
