THE BEST METHOD to run PSX games (and everything else for that matter) is via Retroarch - http://buildbot.libretro.com/nightly/
If you have any questions on how to set it up on Windows please feel free to ask, its very easy.

If it's real, then he shouldn't handle it like that. It is a valuable piece of gaming history after all, and needs to be saved from him ASAP, because he has no idea about how should such treasures be treated.
"Not fake, not made by some Russian dude". Atrocious attempt at being funny. All Famiclones and Megadrive clones at the 90s were manufactured in Taiwan. Yes,even Dendy. I'm not easily offended, but that one sure left a burn.
And while it looks very legit, it still may be just a very good fake, so I won't celebrate just yet.

Well tbh Russia is quite famous for making all kinds of fakes, I'm not talking about consoles. There are certain countries in the world that are notorious for doing such things, whether such items are actually made there is a different thing. A fake can be developed somewhere and then actually made somewhere else, just the same as any legitimate product.

It's possible it is fake. The CD-Drive add-on does look like an old CD-drive from the early 90s. At the same time, though, it could be real.

It's most likely real, there are many discussion topics with insiders knowledgeable about what exactly these were, and the supposed history of this specific unit. I'd suggest skimming Assemblergames for random details (their discussion topic is linked in that first article).

It's interesting to hear that there's already an assortment of known surviving SNES-Playstation devices out there. But the fervor around this one most likely comes from the fact that some random dude just has it, and he's probably going to be willing to sell it at some point. I'd happily give a couple thousand bucks for it
*PSA* Wii Redump collector's can now unscrub ISO files. So scrubbed games can now be verified. You can find the program to do this here

    Is the spoon intact?

Sure is! Although it is somewhat covered in tomato sauce, but I presume that's some sort of early feature that was later discarded by Gunpei Yokoi.

Nobody wants those tomato versions. It's the curry stained edition that's worth collecting.

You're shitting me, right? I seriously used to own three Spoon Boy™ - Indian version units, but I traded them all for one of those wrapped-up-condoms-with-the-cum-still-inside prototypes. :sad
