    Default PCSX2 - slowdown problems

Well, as the topic already states, i am having some problems using PCSX2.
Since my PS2 console beeing on the brink of death, i decided to give emulation a try. The problem is: PCSX2 runs extremely slow. My system specs aren`t the best (Athlon x4 640, Geforce 8600GT) but they should be able to handle it shouldn`t they. I remeber playing Final Fantasy X years ago on PCSX2 and it ran smoothly on even loewer end hardware (some AMD dual core, but a better GFX Card: 8800GTS). Is it maybe because of newer versions of PCSX2 demand more ressources? Or are my settings wrong?

what settings are you using? Resolution? DX9/11/software/hardware? Did you mess with any of the speed settings yet?

I actually didn`t mess around with the settings that much, but i enhanced the internal resolution to match my native screen res (1400x900).
As for the game: I try to play Xenosaga 2...
