Default Resolution of games on bigger screens like laptops and tv boxes

    Hi,

I use 2 emulators: SNESoid and Gameboid. I downloaded 6 roms to try out and I get blurry screens both on my Android TV box and my Windows HP laptop. I tried adjusting settings to all options and cannot get the screens to display like the youtube video examples. On Youtube many of those users hook up their laptop to their tv's and their picture quality is very crisp for the gameboy advance roms.

I was wondering if there is anything I could do to boost the picture quality on either my laptop or Android box. I would prefer the Android box as it would be easier for the kids to start games.

And also, I am going going to pay for the premium service. My question is would this resolve the blurry pictures? I recognize that the only way to get them to display nicely is if I pick "Original size" in the settings. But then when playing on a bigger screen like the tv, it is real small to see sitting down.

    Any guidance would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Do you mean the premium service for the main site downloads? That won't make the games look better.
You get more simultaneous and faster downloads.

    Spoiler warning:

    Wrong section, moved

Android devices are limited to the emulator used

Windows emulators have tons of settings to improve display HQx? is one of the best filters but if you want it to super sharp display just take the filters off totally, use stretching if you like and set res in multiples of 320x240 e.g. 640x480 or 960x720 (4:3) for SNES games and GameBoy games, GBA games want to be multiples of 240×160 or atleast set to Widescreen resolutions

You also have to remember that SNES was never intended to be played in High Def displays so unfiltered does look blocky, SD CRT TV sets do blur the image and GBA although was displayed with a sharp High Def screen (though yet not a HD resolution) will certainly look blocky when blown up to a full TV screen unless you apply some sort of filter as the games are intended to be played on a Small screen not a TV

SNES - zSNES and SNES9x have there own pros and cons, there are others aswell but both have nice filters if used correctly
GBA - VBA and other mods of it like VBA-M are going to be the best option for GBA games

You have to remember these are bitmap games and not real 3D so if you resize a pixel it will remain square unless you apply some sort of filter to it
