Default Should I be using an older version of VBA?

Yup, still using this crummy XP computer until February next year... So until then...

I'm using VBA 1.8.0.603 and when I used it I'm obligated to unplug the internet and not run anything in the background. Which sucks, I like playing music in the background when playing a game. Why do I have to unplug the internet? Well, it disconnects it, permanently until I restart the computer. Weird, huh? PSX doesn't do this, ZSNES doesn't do this, and neither does TF2... So why is VBA forcing my internet through a meat grinder? I'd use VBA-M (last time I used it was a year ago) and while it does better emulate the gameplay due to it looking more smoother with its fps, there's always a sound channel missing during playing a game (this is with default settings, fyi). Should I switch to VBA-M and try and solve my sound channel issue and perhaps it'll run better on my might-as-well-be-ms-dos-PC? or just try an older version of VBA in general and see if that'll run better?

Very odd indeady never heard of that (interwed disconecty to run VBA in any OS) you can try 1.7.2 though if needs be that was the last official stable release of VBA, make sure to grab VBA over also

1.8.XXX is an unofficial build anyway

Ah, thank you. I appreciate your response. I tried 1.7.2 and it's not eating up 99% of my CPU space and I'm still connected.

Great hope you enjoy your GBA games then

P.S. VBA Over just sets the save type up correctly for games that do not auto detect the save type correctly The Pokemon games are most commonly known to not detect automatically with VBA but there are plenty of other games also

Awww, son of a gun... I was playing Mario and Luigi SS and it's having infrequent audio buzzes. :/ The other games are doing this too like Metroid Zero Mission and Mother 3. I wonder what I could do about that?

I tried VBA-M just today and while it runs very well, I'm having some sound issue. The music seems a little louder than all other sounds instead of sounding balanced and Luigi's high jump on Mario has less "crunch" to it and sounds very faint, this includes the menu sounds and the attack sounds. Only sounds like the spin and battle entrance sound normal. :/

See if that runs ok for ya, it might seem a lil overwhelming at first but its pretty straight forward.

in VBA try the following not all at once though but a mix and match may work, you just need to find what is best for your hardware

    These are in Options>Sound

    Use old synchronization
    Low pass Filter
44 Khz/11 Khz default is 22 Khz, 44 Khz should produce the best quality but may have negative effects depending on your hardware

Defaults work great for me though, but I do change 22 Khz to 44 Khz asides from that I use defaults, saying that I don't emulate this system on my PC so much now as I use my 3DS PSP or even my DSLite instead, occasionally I use my Original Xbox using an emulator on that instead
