Question about Animal Crossing: City Folk

Since Nintendo terminated the Wi-Fi connection for Wii/DS, I want to know if there's a medal/achievement/trophy on Animal Crossing Wii that will require the Wi-Fi connection. I remember that on Wild World, the only way to expand Tom Nook's store is by having a friend visit your town and use his store at least once. Is there something similar on City Folk?

Seems that it's not a requirement anymore.

Unlike in previous games, NookWay can be expanded to Nookington's without a player from another town visiting and making a transaction.

Thanks! But you know if there's something else that requires Wi-Fi connection? I'm afraid to start the game and find out that there's something I won't be able to get.

Off the top of my head I'd say only the few exclusive items you get when you help Katie/Kaitlin are missing without being able to visit any other town.

Yep, it appears that a few items will be unobtainable T.T Well, I'm gonna play Harvest Moon/Rune Factory instead. Thanks for all your help
