Arrow Kega Fusion 3.64 and Windows 8.1

To let others know, there's the good and the bad.

The Good: You may have noticed some slowdown when playing a game in fullscreen. I've noticed a speed-up when I utilized WineD3D, which allows OpenGL to handle Direct3D/DirectDraw; Microsoft deprecated DDraw on Windows 8. Download the following...

[Note: You can use these DLLs for older games that use hardware acceleration as well; Plants vs Zombies, for example. It'll run in fullscreen, as smooth as it did on Windows 7 and prior. Just extract them in the game's main directory.]

The Bad: I still haven't figured out why Kega Fusion crashes whenever I attempt to open another ROM, after playing with one earlier. Tried all Compatibility Modes, including setting it to XP and Run As Admin... nothing. Any help is appreciated.

That is pretty strange. Just tested Fusion 3.64 in a Win8 VM and didn't have any crashing issues when loading games while another is running. The first thing I'd recommend checking is if there's an updated driver for your video card. To find out what model card/chipset you have, use a program like GPU-Z. Once you have that, just do a search for "nameofcard drivers".

If updating your drivers doesn't help (or if none were available) I would try using a different version of the emulator. On the authors homepage he does mention 3.64 may have bugs (though I've never experienced any with it), and to hold onto 3.63 just in case. You can find older versions here; http://www.eidolons-inn.net/tiki-index.php?page=Kega
"I think that the problem with this video is it is highly derivative of many popular bands within the genre. Although when viewed on its own merits, it does have a deeper groove. However what it has in groove, it lacks in originality. One can't help but be reminded of such bands as Pearl Jam, White Zombie, Suicidal Tendencies and other bands that bear the mantle of so called "Alternative Rock". One is even reminded of Lorie Anderson when she wore curlers. Hehehmhm! This video speaks less to the heart and more to the sphincter. In closing, I think Korn would do well to learn more from -"

Yeah 3.64 had some issues though not crashing issues more game compat that 3.63 has no issues with or any speed up and down issues, at least not on my end anyway

It would be worth dropping back to 3.63 though and see if it resolves the issues, that is after checking what MaslowK has recommended with the video drivers
