Default That empty feeling after beating a game?

Saw this topic on another forum and thought it was a decent idea, so here goes.

Do you have that empty feeling after beating a game you invested many hours into? By this I mean the inability to jump into a new game straight away because you kinda just need some time to digest your previous game. I'm sure you know what I mean. It happens to me all the time, to be honest, and sometimes days go by before I can work up the motivation to start something new. This is especially true with story-heavy games where you need to be able to care about what's going on in the plot and sometimes you can't do that right after finishing your previous adventure. Or something like that. Am I making sense guize? If so, please discuss.

Yes, I've had this problem more than a few times. Skyrim and Fallout come to mind - I sunk untold amounts of hours into these games over the course of a few months and when I was done with them I felt like I had lost something. I'd try to start something else, but just couldn't get into it. Shadow of the Colossus was another - I felt gutted after finishing it, and I immediately went to Ico to try and help overcome my loss, but it just didn't quite fit the bill.

It's funny you start this thread now though, because I'm having a little trouble getting into anything right now after Dark Souls 2. I've got several great games right now that I'm messing with, but I can't help but think about DS2 and some things I could do differently or want to go back and do over. I'm going to start a NG+, but I can't quite bring myself to do so just this moment

Nope, whenever I finish anything I lookup rule 34 afterwards. Perhaps this has warped my mind
*PSA* Wii Redump collector's can now unscrub ISO files. So scrubbed games can now be verified. You can find the program to do this here

I usually feel that way after I beat an RPG. After beating Chrono Trigger,it was awhile before I played another game. Sometimes you need time to process what happened in the game before you can invest in something else.

I get that way every time I finish a game. Afterward I'll just hop from game to game. Usually going back to some old-school NES, Sega, or arcade games. At least until I find another new game to get interested in.

It took me and my sis a long time to process we finally beat Space Ace (SNES) and when we did react it was like "...oh we did it". This don't happen often but this is one somewhat recent example.

    My answer

In elaboration since it's not quite the same. Yes I do but not always. Depends on the game. Some really big open world sandbox type games and long rpgs I'm just happy it's frickin over. If I really get into it like let's say FF12 then most definitely. Something like FF8 no I just wanted to finish off the thing but it didn't help that I finally went through it just year or two ago. Almost alway feel that way after a more action/adventure style game like Tomb Raider etc as they're usually fairly short. Also platformers cuz who doesn't like continuously bouncing around?

I do during some games. When I finished Sonic Generations I felt pretty empty inside, I didn't think it was the best but it sure was fun. Fallout 3 was another game I just felt empty about, spent so much time just to beat a game and it's gone, just like that. Even Skyrim, just like Flava said.

I can't think of anything else off the top of my head...But there are games that I just felt empty about.

I just wanted to add that I have these same feelings when I finish watching a TV series. I had a nearly empty feeling after finishing Lost, which I actually liked the ending of. I am also in the last season of watching Breaking Bad. I am going to be a bit sad when I finish it as well.

Was about to say the same thing, find it more often when I finish a TV or anime series than a game. Always sad when you finish a series and you are just like, but, but, what happens now..
