Dunno man. The second and third games have mp/co-op anyway, and both are working fine.
Have you plat'd them both? You need 1xco-op and 1xmp trophy (but I've done them already).
Haven't plat'd 3 yet though.

Well after looking on Playstation community forums it seems the logitech PS2 headset works with Resistance and other games. Not working for CoD3 but that doesn't matter.
Just got to enable it in settings, and a few people say you have to turn the volume down a bit 'cos you sound really loud.
I also saw something about sounding robotic

That's sad dude, they're awesome games. I got my PS3 for the exclusives and these games make it worthwhile on their own imo

I usually end up listening to either Space or Vinewood Boulevard Radio quite a lot. Funk and grungy surf rock.

I listened to a lot of Space too, I found the talk station to be disappointing for this game.
