Can't setup Demul 582 to play Shenmue

Hello everyone. I discovered EmuParadise a few days ago and started going through the different sections, I've been having a lot of fun, so I thank you very much for such a great site.
Now I've trying to setup Demul, I just want to play Shenmue again since I could not finish the game on my old Dreamcast because the gd stopped working...

I have the bios, I have the emulator (5.8.2), and I have a "shenD1.cdi" file which is the game rom. I have no idea what to do with them, I tried all I could, I even asked at another forum but no one could help me, I was surprised they couldn't help me just load a game into this emulator... Could you help me out set up the bios and load the rom please?

I would go with nulldc for the emulator prrsonally.:

I can get this working for you but it is a much more demanding emulator (better emulation though) than NullDC so it will be even slower and is still not perfect.

I am guessing it is the bios you just don't have set correctly.

I am happy to tell you how to get this emulator working though if you want to give it a shot

Stick dc.zip in your roms folder for demul, it's the 1.01d Dreamcast bios

Check the demul ini file and make sure it is looking at the correct path
or
You can also do that inside the emulator from Config > Plugins and Paths

While you are there start of using the gpuDXv3 just to make sure it is working

You can play round with the others and see if they work with your hardware after

Legacy would be the next one to try though


Hint:- Shenmue II was a European and Japanese release only so if you plan to continue your game with Shenmue II you are best off getting the PAL Shenmue copy rather than the NTSC copy, it supports 60Hz so no problems there

Ok I checked all that, with legacy and all the rest now it says that d3dx9_43.dll is missing, lol.
And in NullDC 1.0.6beta it does work now, it's playable, kind of crappy sound but it's ok, I know I'm not playing on a Dreamcast, but the issue is the VMU, I can't seem to be able to save the game and there are no save states... I guess this is simpler, could you help me out with this? And I'll be ok using NullDC... thanks

For nullDC
Options>Select Plugins>
Look at the 2nd and 3rd driver for the Port A (that's for sub device 1 and 2 i.e. the VMU ports on the pad) and make sure nullDC VMU is selected in both or at least the first if you want rumble as the second one

Options>Maple>Port A>Sub Device 1 (Just make sure it is Attached there and Show is checked [You don't need Show to be checked really, that is up to you])

You can do thje same for Sub Device 2

Boot the Bios (No disc) and make sure the VMU is formatted, it should say 200 free for the slots free

Zorlon, you are very cool and I appreciate it I'll try the VMU thingy.
As far as installing something goes... my system can't install anything, there's an issue with the installer, I tried to fix that long ago, so yeah, lol again. hahaha

You could try the dll's on there own but I don't recommend that in the slightest 90% of the time you do this you only find that more dll's are required anyway :/
