And why the fuck would you need an octocore processor anyway? Are you trying to host a server or something?
Was for the sake of comparison. I'm sure someone can build me a decent budget rig to run games at medium or high easily.

I'd fuck with AMD parts if they're good. As I've said, I have no brand loyalty. I'm currently Intel/Nvidia, but this isn't a gaming PC. I'd go mixing and matching if it's the best price/performance ratio.

Your laptop has bad specs though, it might be more than just the manufacturer that's responsible.

Brit if you are looking for a 490 some dollar rig you can look at my reddit thread reddit.com/u/JackGriffiths and someone posted one. I asked them a follow up also.

What Tass said above. Also, as far as AMD is concerned, a decent quad core is pretty much the minimum for current gaming needs.

It's the graphics cards that make or break gaming. You can run most newer games with a decent quad-core, but it needs an equally decent graphics card or now the whole setup is child's play and only fit for emulating 5th gen consoles

Can you look at thr build I'm talking about. I would be willing to spend like 30-50 more for a better graphics card if actually needed.

I am aware of that, I was just pointing out how dual cores don't seem to be enough for recommended specs nowadays. But sure, GPU is *usually* the most important bit, unless you run into a highly CPU-bound game like Assassin's Creed 3. My x4 965 is overclocked to 3.8Ghz and AC3 still eats it for breakfast, despite my GPU being more than enough for it.
