Default Megaman X sub tank issue

First off let me say that i am using zsnesw v1.42. The issue that i'm running into is that sub tanks are not fully restoring health. They are giving only 16 health(half of the maximum after obtaining all heart tanks). I've done a little bit of research and am getting mixed info as to whether this is a bad rom issue or a emulator issue instead, there seems to be reports of both being the case. Can anyone reccomend a snes emulator they KNOW does not have this issue on this game?

There are only 2 emulators to pick from really Zsnes or snes9x (there are other snes emulators though)

As I have not played the game I can't say if snes9x will run the rom any better

Any idea what rom version you are using???

I recommend roms from either the no-intro set or the tosec set both use the best dumps available

I have both 1.0 and 1.1, though 1.1 is the version i am writing about. I'm trying not to use version 1.0, as it has shown signs of rather odd glitching. For example after playing the intro stage on 1.0 then going to Armored Armadillo's stage, i was RANDOMLY awarded the boss's special weapon before i ever even got close to entering the boss room for the first time.

try the same roms with snes9x

v1.0 and v1.1 may still not be good dumps and wasn't really the information I was after anyway :/ no matter though but that does tell me they are not from the No-intro set

These are the names used in the No-Intro set for that game
    Mega Man X (Europe)
Mega Man X (USA) (Rev 1)
    Mega Man X (USA)
Euro releases tend to have the latest fixes anyway, if you like though I can tell you the crc value that the roms should have if they are in sfc format

exact rom names are Mega Man X (U) (V1.0) [!].smc and Mega Man X (U) (V1.1) [!].smc. I haven't tested 1.0 just yet on snes9x but 1.1 seems to be working on it(sub tanks actually giving full health now)

Even after playing with the config for awhile i note that the health gauge looks funny in snes9x(in short spacing on the health bars on it is varied throughout the gauge), and energy drops are also slightly off in their shapes, cant seem to find any config so far to fix things oh well i guess. I'll live with it to get the sub tanks actually functioning properly.

    EDIT
here is a screenshot showing what i meant on the health gauge

There's also another emulator called bsnes you can try. This one is fairly new but the mission of emulator is accurate emulation (in contrast to fast emulation) so it might help with those glitches.

Sounds more like a display x/y issue rather than an actual bug, i.e. the display x/y. is not the correct ratio/res for SNES games, though it looks 4:3 to me it may just not be multiples of the original res

Original res setup depends on the display mode used with SNES games
    512x448 or 512x478 or 448x448 or 478x478 or 478x448

once you know what the basic res is you can use multiples, e.g. 1024x896 that is 512x448*2

    EDITS....

Yeah looks perfect for me, take Stretch Image off

enable Simple 2x, 3x or 4x in the Video>Display Configuration... it's under Image Output Processing

The image may not fill your display windowed but it will be more accurate

The screen grab is at 3x you can filter it if you wish as well, up to you.

hmmn yeah stretch to screen was the source of the problem, turning it off fixed the health gauge. I have it set to a simple 3X filter now, didn't even see the option for a 4X one(though this is a copy of SNES9X i've had sitting around for awhile, and had forgotten i had, so it could be out of date) Must be because its 1.51 and yours is 1.53 i guess, oh well. Now i have a new problem on Launch Octopus's stage. The resolution is set at 640 x 480 60Hz

If i exit the menu the sky in the background looks about the same, but sky blue instead of course. The parts of the level being rendered under the sky look okay, but still its ugly as hell to stare at. Not yet tried replaying the level for items, so i dont know if it might get worse further into the stage.

    EDIT
As for the resolutions listed in your post....well the lowest option i see is 640 x 480. As for 1024 x 896, well the closest option i get there is 1024 x 768. I'm glad that Megaman X2 and X3 seem to work just fine on zsnesw, that way if i ever want to try to finish them(gotten to roughly Sigma on both) i know i can do so without graphical glitches or any others for that matter too. From what i've seen of the problems getting Megaman X working correctly on snes9x, i definitely do not plan to continue using the emulator once i am done with Megaman X.

as I have little interest in the game I don't know if I could be of any more help

as it is the res itself does not mater so much in snes9x because you are not using the stretch option anyway and just using the basic x upscalling but updating snes9x may fix some of the odd issues you are getting, most updates for emulators in general do have fixes for problems.

there may even be a newer version to what I used it was some time back now that I updated both zsnes and snes9x.

Hmmn, i found the website for the emulator, but on the download page, 2 of the links lead to version 1.43(and older), 1 gets blocked by my antivirus and the other 2 just flat don't work.
