    Default Pokemon platinum team suggestions?

Currently I'm about six gym leaders into the game on my first playthrough, with a team consisting of just Magnezone (electric/steel), Golduck (water) and Infernape (fire/fighting). So far I haven't really had any issues taking out any of the gym leaders etc, but feel like I should probably beef out my team before the elite four anyway. Trouble is, I have no idea what I should add to this team, at least as far as the selection of pokemon available (don't know enough about them in general).

So, any suggestions at all? Maybe complimentary types I could add here? I've also got a completed game of heartgold I could trade from, would rather stick to whats available in platinum though if possible.

"I think that the problem with this video is it is highly derivative of many popular bands within the genre. Although when viewed on its own merits, it does have a deeper groove. However what it has in groove, it lacks in originality. One can't help but be reminded of such bands as Pearl Jam, White Zombie, Suicidal Tendencies and other bands that bear the mantle of so called "Alternative Rock". One is even reminded of Lorie Anderson when she wore curlers. Hehehmhm! This video speaks less to the heart and more to the sphincter. In closing, I think Korn would do well to learn more from -"

Drop the infernape and get yourself an Arcanine. Flare Blitz, Solar Beam, Sunny Day, Crunch. Lanturn is invaluable, Ice Beam, Surf/Hydropump, Thunder, Rain Dance. Haxorus Or Dragonite (Dragonite is somewhat better with Dragon Dance) Outrage, Dragon Dance, Brick Break, Blizzard/Ice Beam.

Well, I've already got both water and electric covered with magnezone and golduck, good call on a dragon type though. What I could really use that I can never seem to find a decent pokemon for though is flying, I'm thinking maybe togekiss? Looks like I could even slap psychic on it for extra coverage.

togekiss would be a good move. i always have luxio in my party (and its evolutions), vulpix for fire (from trades), one of the eevee forms (umbreon, espeon). i tend to battle with favorites on each gen that i like.
