    Default Lucasarts Shut Down

    Story here: http://www.destructoid.com/disney-sh...s-250695.phtml

I know it happened yesterday, so I'm a day late to the party, but does anyone even really care? I liked Lucasarts back in the days of their PC game prowess - stuff like Maniac Mansion, Tie Fighter, Grim Fandango, etc. They haven't really made anything for well over a decade that was worth its salt, and the few good Star Wars games that have come out (Jedi Knight 2, Knights of the Old Republic) weren't even made by them... they were just licensed.

People seem to be in a tizzy about the Status of some Star Wars 1313 game. I didn't think it looked like anything special, but it got the axe. So does anyone care that Lucasarts went down in flames?

I'm surprised they lasted for this long. The last time I was interested in their games was like...10-15 years ago? The Monkey Islands, the Grim Fandangos, Full Throttles, etc etc. That was their prime, after that they pretty much relied solely on Star Wars fumes, no new intellectual properties. You tend to disappear into the "Fog of forgettaboutit" that way.

Duuuude, how can you not care? Maniac Mansion alone should have guaranteed their survival for atleast 50 years or so.

Although, it must be said, I really hated Dave. I'd always kill him off. ^________^

    Michael Ballack, he scores free-kicks.

The only games I've got from them are Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb & a demo of the Indiana Jones desktop adventures (which doesn't work on any of the current OSes) so I own one game, I possibly have more on older consoles or my C64 .

I guess this was kind of inevitable. They hadn't done much for a while but I think anyone who grew up with a PC in the 90s will be sad to see them go. Hopefully some of their older IP gets licensed out.

Personally I don't think they've put out anything worthwhile since the 90s. Day of the Tentacle forever!
