    Default .001 file extension problems

So... time to explain a very common problem with .001,.002 etc. files.

Basically, many downloads using this format are broken due to random renaming.

You usually come up at the end with the game name and file extension e.g. Super Mario Sunshine.gcm
However, broken ones come up like this: Super Mario Sunshine

Reading the properties of the broken file, it has no file extension.

This happens when you rename all split files e.g from Super Mario Sunshine.gcm.001 to Super Mario Sunshine.001 etc.
Emulators can't read these "damaged" files. Even if you give them a valid file extension.

So I am asking if these files could be fixed, despite being so many of them. It would be great if they were.
    System Specs are Win7 Home Premium x64 SP1, i3-2310M @2.1GHz, 4GB Ram and 128MB Intel HD Graphics 3000.

Click the thanks button if I helped in any way!

    Those files are archives.

Download all the pieces, then open the *.001 with 7Zip (http://www.7-zip.org/).

    Extract...

I already know how to extract these... it just so happened that a lot of the files on the main site are broken due to the problem I mentioned.

EDIT: I've clearly explained my problem here.
