this is a hard question. i recently graduated college and have found myself with a lot of extra time of my hands, so i've played a lot of video games starting with nes, working through snes, and on up. it's been a real eye opener seeing how the designers take a simple game like super mario bros and it slowly morphs game after game into the modern incarnations, mario, metroid, zelda, castlevania, final fantasy, fire emblem, first person shooters and more.

so since i can't come up with an answer, my favorite worst game ever. before truckers, before superman 64, there was x-men on the NES. 4 levels of pure hell, the only real way to get through is by using a glitch to get all your lives back everytime you use the practice level (danger room), and it's still hard. not just due to everything killing you, but very hard to control mechanics and the fact that using your mutant powers consumes what little health you have. once you've beat the 4 levels the game gives you the location of a code. a code to look on the front label of the cartridge. (metal gear was not the first to do this) however, since your game is in the nes, you have to TURN IT OFF! look at the code, then beat the 4 levels AGAIN, only to find out that the code was PRINTED WRONG, so you can't get to the last level. of course with the internet today, it's not problem, but back in the 80's... so once you get the right code and get to the last level, after probably beating the first 4 and trying the code more times than anyone would like to admit, you get to the last level. and it is way harder than the first 4. this games only saving graces are that it is multiplayer, that it uses pictures of the awesome 80's xmen including mohawk punk storm, and it's notable failed attempt at passwords hidden in labels.
