Default Gamecube: Setting up a Memory Card

Hey Forums! So I'm relatively new here, excuse me if I do anything stupid or say anything stupid. just got a quick question. So, I downloaded the dolphin emulator for the Gamecube (for windows 7, 64 bit, v3.0) and I also downloaded Super Mario Sunshine. I have a memory card, it's with the game or whatever, but when I go to set it up, ( tools, memcard manager) I choose the memory card, and I leave, but when I comeback, the memory card is gone. I don't know how to save it because there is no "ok" button or "save" button. Only "convert to GCI, export to GCI, Import, copy, and delete." Thanks for any help.

Tl;dr How do I set up a memory card for Dolphin Gamecube emulator or The memory card won't save and doesn't keep the memory... or yea...

    Options>Config>Gamecube
on slot A choose memory card and then hit ok, when you save a game it should save to your user/gc folder
