Default WII Compatibility List for Playing GameCube Backups (Softmod)

    Short list of Facts

    1. Not all Gamecube games boot in a wii (softmodded/hardmodded), but just about all of them do
    2. If the Gamecube game uses "Audio Streaming", then the WII will not play all the audio files, usually the music or ingame sounds are missing.
    3. This Guide refers to results from the program Neo Gamma R9 beta 56 (some games were tested with GameCube Backup .2 too), using "cios249 v8", not the newer version 10 since its not necessary at this point.
    4. I personally tested all the games I am listing for the Nintendo Wii, with about 30 coasters in the trash can.

USB Loader (from external hdd), and Game Cube Backup Update

This is an update for these 3 Programs (Neo Gamma, gcbackup, and USBLoader) from http://www.epforums.org/showthread.p...ons-plus-guide the versions in the softmod installation pack I updated and tested previously. Why Update? Resident Evil Code Veronica, and Star Wars Rogue Squadron 2, didn't boot in b47 of Neo Gamma from my own experience, now they do, here's simple instructions and a archive for you before we continue to our compatibility list.

    1. NeoGamma and Gc Backup 0.2 folders go in your "Apps" folder (which in your SD CARD in your WII)
    2. Use the "Wad Installer", to install "cIOS249 rev8.wad" (i think you have v5 from the softmod, anyway, this works, (its from cIOS36 i believe) (this file goes in your "Wad" folder. (Wad Installer uses the Wii controller, your installing from your SD CARD not your NAND)
    3. After you install "cIOS249 rev8.wad", (press B to load form MIOS after you see the option
while in GC Backup 0.2 Launcher), you can use Neogamma fine, this is the preferred application for Gamecube Backups

USBLoaderGX 3.0 (wii games only from external hdd, there is a program for gamecube games from a SD CARD, that works with this version of USBLoader, not the older one)
    1. just drop in your apps folder your don't have delete the previous version, after you select a game, if you can't see the "play" button it is in the lower right corner of the screen, sometimes it is invisible.

Wii 4.3 Softmodded using Neo Gamma R9 beta 56 the Latest Version, here are my results and settings (games are all NTSC for the NTSC Wii it was tested on, softmod users use backups from your region to avoid unnecessary boot errors) (games played from Memorex dvd-r burned at 8x, images formated with "fstfix 1.5" Gui Version (see softmod pack I reference above)

Full Playback Audio + Video (these games do not use "Audio Streaming")

Baten Kaitos Eternal Wings Disk 1 + 2 (32K Align, Soundfix)

Starfox Assault (32K Align, Soundfix, FullSize)

"Audio Streaming" Games, Missing Audio Music/Sound

Battalion Wars (32K Align, Soundfix, FullSize) (audio appears to work fine/didn't play far enough into the game)
Eternal Darkness (32K Align, SoundFix) (missing music?, I didn't play far enough into the game)

Wave Race Blue Storm (32K Align, SoundFix) (No Music)

    Games that Didn't Work

007 Everything or NOthing, several boot errors indicated from Neo Gamma (failure to identify audio types, etc.)

    NOTES*

The "SoundFix" option in "fstfix 1.5", doesn't affect game boot up for games that don't use streaming, to avoid further coasters, I left this option on during testing

Short Wii64 1.1 Compatibility List (wasted a few hours seeing if this was worth it or not, and its not worth it lol)

(All games make clicking noises some are not noticable,, lots of games dont work or work with real bad audio, WII64 uses the 64 roms, these are not .wad games, that can be loaded as a Channel, some of the .wad games can be difficult to remove so I didn't install or test any of them.)

Just thought I'd mention that even using WODE; Eternal Darkness (PAL) doesn't have any music afaik...and Ikaruga (PAL) will boot, but you can only play demo mode and not the full game.

The best way is to play your game (dvd-r backup or original) with Neo Gamma, and read startup information. So far, the "Sound Fix" option with "fstfix 1.5", doesn't affect playback, but on some games with this option Neo Gamma will say the game "could have streaming audio but it can't detect any" (these games do not have streaming audio, its is only because the audio bit was set from "fstfix", this is only for a few games, a harmless detail). There's a lot of Compatibility lists online with questionable entries on them, the best way is to use a few spare dvd-r's yourself and test the results. If you compare my results with the "Audio Streaming List" I quote at the end of my previous post you will find that The Legend of Zelda Ocarnia of Time/Master only has 2 audio streams from the title game select screen that you will not hear, that does not affect the emulated games. The rest of the games on the list, you can expect missing audio when you play them on your Wii, regardless of mod.

I guess "Audio Streaming Games" could work fine on a Gamecube, they don't on a Wii.

The Wii's built in GameCube emulator has trouble playing audio from any "Audio Streaming" game, softmod or hardmod (as far as originals go idk all my originals I keep in ment condition so i only play the backups I make from then, hehehe, when it comes to GameCube backups the Wii doesn't like Audio Streaming games, and you will have missing audio real bummer). Its just harder to identify what sounds or music is missing from these games. I went ahead and tested 3 more games. I'll also come back and test Alien Hominid later, even though I suspect the entry for it in the list I quote is correct.

Full Playback Audio + Video (these games do not use "Audio Streaming")

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles (32K Align, Soundfix)
Fire Emblem Path of Radiance (32K Align, Soundfix, FullSize)
Freedom Fighters (32K Align, Soundfix, FullSize) (looks smoother on the GameCube than on xbox, less graphic flaking)

"Audio Streaming" Games, Missing Audio Music/Sound

Alien Hominid (32K Align, Soundfix, FullSize) (no music) (looks better than the ps2 version)
Ikaruga (32K Align, Soundfix, FullSize) (no music)

*** Ikaruga plays find, all the game modes i'm playing on a Ntsc 4.3 Wii, and the game is also Ntsc, all the games are I list. Alien Hominid also has audio streaming but Neo Gamma doesn't identify the audio streams like it does for all the other games with streaming, the problem could be something else or maybe not.
