I have a controller that is about to go as well, I plan on replacing it with 2 red ones when I get the money. It will be a few months but that's about when the black controller will be fully dead (I also have 2 blue ones but one is going and the other gets barely used except by me since everyone else in my house likes to shake controllers).

Anyways, so far I have been playing the game and I'm doing much better, I have two weapons that I'll be using for different monsters and I just need to figure out what I can use them for.

Ideally you will use three weapons: one for human and phantom, one for beast and dragon, and and one for undead and evil. The elements are similar, with Fire<>Water Earth<>Air Light<>Darkness, but any of fire, earth, air, or water might lower it's opposite, and might lower Light and Darkness too.
This actually helps a lot. I don't really need the element one as much since that's pretty basic in most games and I'll figure it out but I needed to know what I need to kill with specific weapons.

A few days late, but I can say this. I gave the game about 20 minutes of gameplay to see how I liked it, and well, I don't =/ while I can see the appeal in the style of gameplay (sort of an action RPG/tactical hybrid deal), it just moves too slowly for an action rpg for me. Think I'll stick to what I'm used to.
"I think that the problem with this video is it is highly derivative of many popular bands within the genre. Although when viewed on its own merits, it does have a deeper groove. However what it has in groove, it lacks in originality. One can't help but be reminded of such bands as Pearl Jam, White Zombie, Suicidal Tendencies and other bands that bear the mantle of so called "Alternative Rock". One is even reminded of Lorie Anderson when she wore curlers. Hehehmhm! This video speaks less to the heart and more to the sphincter. In closing, I think Korn would do well to learn more from -"

The game is insane and fun at the same time, I remember messing up my "attacks" and getting stuck with a gimp character. I ended up quitting and never coming back but I plan to replay again once I beat Disgaea fully.

Great game...althought I had to grind for vera roots and other sort of items in case I get cursed (that status is PERMANENT unless it's healed ) other than that it was nothing short of a classic

wait.. there are people who don't like Vagrant story? the game starts pretty slow but one you get the hang of it and the weapon crafting it starts to become pretty awesome.

    a tip.

as early as possible, find a weapon that you would use for specific monster/enemy types and keep using that for the entire game to max out their potential.

eg. dagger - evil/undead, sword - beasts, big swords - dragons, etc. I have one for each character type before. I really need to replay this game.

This is one of THE must play titles for the PSX. Good story, great graphics, nice combat system and getting all the titles is a fun challenge. Plus i don't remember any other game *cough*Thousand Arms*cough* where you can forge your weapons and armor.
