    Default Tomb Raider (2013 reboot)

    This is interesting:

its definitely different from all of the other tomb raider games. The whole concept of the game became more of a survival type of thing

    looks pretty realistic too

When I first heard about this last year, I was skeptical. Now, after absorbing every snippet of info that I could find, the unthinkable happened: I'm actually getting excited over a Tomb Raider game. Who knew?

    I'm iffy.

One one hand, it looks very good (if way too similar to Uncharted). On the other, I don't like the direction they've taken with Lara. With Legends, they finally got her character down, a strong woman who goes on treasure huts and does dangerous stuff to do what she saw as right. Basically, a female Indiana Jones. But this game doesn't seem to care about that. This game wants to be about a completely different character who's a survivalist and had to go through a terrible situation in order to become strong. The Lara Croft I knew wouldn't have a backstory this needlessly GRIM DARK.

I liked the previous TR games as well. I'm quite excited about this new direction the series is going. So yeah, looking forward to it and stuff.

I'm excited about the new direction. Yes, they are changing the backstory to something that has her basically becoming a scared girl on an island for the majority of the game, but from a storytelling aspect I find it extremely compelling as a concept. I like to see games that touch on more "adult" themes without overduing it. Are they going to overdue it in this one? Possibly, but it looks interesting right now. I'm definitely looking forward to it.

Also, since I never really played any of the previous Tomb Raider games (I didn't have a Playstation growing up, so these games unfortunately eluded me), I don't have the attachment that some people do to the character. Therefore, I don't really care where they take her. The story seems interesting, the gameplay seems fun (if it's a bit reminiscent of Uncharted, then who cares. Most extremely successful games borrow lots of things from other games), and the game itself looks gorgeous.

Day one purchase for me, unless I see something that really throws me off.

I was really excited for the game but I'm sort of on the fence after the last couple of trailers. :/ I'm not seeing any of the survival elements and it's all looking a bit too Uncharted/Lara Croft Interactive Torture Simulator for my liking. Think I'll wait for the demo.

I'm looking forward to this game. While I've never played the Uncharted games or the previous Tomb Raider games, I like what I've seen so far of the game. It makes me all the more wonder how much she'll change before the end of the game. While I would've liked a 2012 release, I'm content with 2013 as that gives me ample time to save up during Christmas.
