mount via the cue file with D-Tools Lite and run the game directly from a CD-Rom drive (D-Tools Lite is a virtual CD-Rom drive or emulator if you like)

most Sega/Mega CD images have a single Bin or Iso file and several sound files that must be named correctly

Bin images can contain sound tracks aswell as the data track but to access the sound tracks you must run the bin via a cue files otherwise whatever software trying to read it can't see anything asides from the data track

If you like, you can point me toi the exact copy of the game and I will see if I can't figure it out for you or you could just grab another copy

@Zorlon: Sorry if I come off as a bit dense, but would you mind taking me through the steps needed to do what you suggest? Are you saying that you're better off running these games as CD-ROM files rather than image files? Or do you have to merge them/load them simultaneously?

Will you be able to do a Screenshot of the Files?

If it's mounting a CD image in Daemon Tools Lite (D-Tools lite) then look at http://www.epforums.org/showthread.php?43438 it is an old guide for doing that (only thing I would do extra is while installing D-Tools Lite is make sure that the extra driver SPTD is also installed (you will be asked during the install of D-Tools))

D-Tools is a virtual CD-Rom drive that can run CD-Images as if they are an actual CD-Rom inserted into a actual CD-Rom drive, simply put it's a CD-Rom Drive emulator

@Zorlon: And would you suggest using such a program for running Sega CD games to their full potential as opposed to regular ISO files?

@Dave The Man: I'm not sure which files you're talking about.

Works perfectly fine both ways, depends on what format the ISO is and the layout of it

Dave the Man is asking for the same thing I did a number of posts back, basicly a list of what files you have for the ISO, this will help us help you run the ISO without the need of D-Tools and such, though D-Tools is a very handy tool to have anyway for other CD based game system emulators like Saturn and Playstation and many others

@Zorlon: I apologize, but I'm not sure which files you're specifying. When I downloaded the Sonic CD iso off of this site, the only two files that came with it were the respective .bin and .cue files.

Where else am I supposed to find these particular files that you're mentioning, and what ARE they exactly?

    Neh that will do me

If you wanted to use that in Kega Fusion with sound you will need to extract the sound files (you may want to extract the data track also as a data only bin file, up to you)

ISOBuster (free use only) will do this fine

grab ISObuster install (on the first run you will be asked to reg the software or use free func.., 'free func..' is fine)

open the by the cue file (the bin data is automaticly read)

from this software you will be able to extract all the tracks

right click on trhe track you wish to extract then move the mouse to Extract track XX (use extract audio as wav for the sound track and use RAW for that data track)

make sure that you name the files correctly

    e.g.

    Sonic CD.bin
    Sonic CD 02.wav
    Sonic CD 03.wav
    .... and so on

I also have an old guide using CDRWin but my link for the download of it no longer exists

The guide is still mostly useable though at http://www.epforums.org/showthread.php?24721

P.S. for this game it would be much quicker just to download it as a Bin plus mp3's and takes up alot less space

I am downloading this game myself though and I will do a couple of quick tests for you on my end with Kega Fusion

    EDIT######

Works fine for me ran directly in Fusion via the cue file, sound track are read fine aswell

if you can't run the cue file and it just takes you directly to the music player, it will be beacuse yhou tried to rename the files

the above can be fixed by editing the c ue file with notepad or other text editor and changing the line...
    FILE "SONIC_CD_-_SEGA_CD_MK-4407_(REDUMP).BIN" BINARY
to look for the correct file e.g. if the bin file is now called Sonic CD.bin, then chaning the line to read
    FILE "SONIC CD.BIN" BINARY
will make it run correctly again

@Zorlon: So do these .wav files that I'm extracting from the ISO file need to be grouped together with the .bin and .cue files in it's own separate folder or something like that? I'm still a little confused as to how I'm supposed to apply these instructions.

And does that CDRWin guide you posted apply only to the .cue files?

Yeah the same place as the .bin and .cue file

Forget about the guide and forget about extracting the wav files

Edit the cue file via notpad like I said in my last post and fix the first line so it looks for your re-named bin file

Also make sure you have version 3.64 of Fusion, this version will let you load a cue file directly (older versions may do also, it just happens it was version 3.64 that I tested with)

@Zorlon: Alright, so I renamed the .cue file in notepad to "SONIC CD.BIN" specifically but it still brings me to the CD player side of the system after I press start, showing no visible way to start the game. I can't even check if the actual in-game tracks are going to play or not!

the cue file is still incorrect then....

copy and paste what is in the cue file (what is shown what you have it open in notepad) [paste it to a reply]
also give me the exact name of the bin file

I will fix this for you
