Default Genesis/Mega Drive - Alternative Game Versions

I noticed in the emuparadise ROM section that certain Genesis/Mega Drive games (ex. Gauntlet 4, Ristar) offer a September and August download option. What is the difference between these versions? Also, some games (ex. Mortal Kombat, QuackShot, Super Hang-On) include a v1.1 or Rev A next to the original ROM. Are these patches that have corrected something or are these hacks? No text file was provided in the Zip that explained the difference

v1.1 and rev A would be different version that were officially released; for example, some earlier ROMs were burned to two or even three ROM chips and later changed to just one chip. This would be a revision. As the data would not be noticeably different on your console, you can choose one or the other without regret. As for the August and September versions, it is the same thing. One was released in August and later changed before the production run of September. They will play the same, but see that there are differences in the ROM data below. Much of the hex is identical, but it looks like the header information has been altered from one to the next; most notably the licensing info and you can clearly see "August" and "September."

Not entirely sure what a September or August download option may indicate, however "v1.1" and "Rev A" roms are generally just bug fixes or copies released by the developers with content added/removed. One good example would be with Ocarina of Time on the N64; the original version (1.0) included what sounded like islamic chants in the fire temple theme, while later versions removed this. Another example would be Mystic Defender on Sega Genesis; in the original version one of the characters appears nude after defeating the final boss, while a later revision features the character in a tattered dress instead.
"I think that the problem with this video is it is highly derivative of many popular bands within the genre. Although when viewed on its own merits, it does have a deeper groove. However what it has in groove, it lacks in originality. One can't help but be reminded of such bands as Pearl Jam, White Zombie, Suicidal Tendencies and other bands that bear the mantle of so called "Alternative Rock". One is even reminded of Lorie Anderson when she wore curlers. Hehehmhm! This video speaks less to the heart and more to the sphincter. In closing, I think Korn would do well to learn more from -"
